Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen
I'm a level 2 class E student, Farez, an exchange student
from Malaysia
I'm majoring in Japanese Language at the University of Malaya
Malaysia
But since I wanted to learn Korean
I came to
Hankuk University of Foreign Studies end of last February
Today
I'm going to talk about
"My Dream"
Ladies and gentlemen,
I believe that all of you have dreams, right?
(Boy)"Of course!"
I, too, have a dream
But my dream when I was in primary school and my dream now are
very different
It is because
Back then Hong Kong dramas were very famous in Malaysia
Thus
my dreams keep changing every year
according to the themes of those dramas
When a drama about policeman was famous
I wanted to become a policeman
When a drama about firemen was famous, my dream was
to become a fireman
It has been 5 months since I came to Korea
During that time
I started learning Korean and
after doing a lot of thinkings
I came to know the thing I really want to do and I have found
my dream
That is
To establish the first Korean Language Department
at a Malaysian university and
to make the first Malaysian-Korean language dictionary
Actually I've been having an interest towards Korea
especially Korean language
since 10 years ago
At that time I didn't really know
about Korea
such as the country itself
or KPOP
but one day
I went to a DVD shop
when I saw a DVD box of
a drama called "Winter Sonata"
or in Korean "Kyeoul Yeonga"
I fell in love with the beautiful characters (Hangeul)
on that DVD box
Later on when I got to know that the characters I saw was called Hangeul
from that day on
I've been holding an interest towards Korean language
Actually not all Malaysian
like Korean culture
It is because
Usually many Malaysian think
that Korea
is all about KPOP
Apart from that
of course there are people who like KPOP
but there are
also many people who
are not really into KPOP
That's why I want to let Malaysian people understand
that Korea is not all about KPOP
there are interesting history
the society
sightseeing places
the language
and there are also
other splendid cultures
In my opinion
if we want to understand a country
we have to
know the language
of that country
It is because
it's not just about understanding that country
but for the sake of
establishing mutual understanding
between countries
for example
when we are doing
a cultural exchange
language
is very important
That is why
I am aiming
to establish the first
Korean Language Department
at a Malaysian university
and to make the first Malaysian-Korean language dictionary
Well certainly since my dream is too big
I do understand that
it won't be easy for me to
make it come true
However
that dream
is something that I want to do with all my heart
(song) I
have a dream
Even if I'm thrown away
or ripped to shreds
(Audiences) "You're doing well!!!"
Deep in my heart I have a dream as precious as gem
(Audiences) "Don't be shy!" "Fighting!" "Farez!" "Don't give up!" "Farez!Farez!Farez!"
I...
My dream...
I believe in my dream
You guys too
if you have things you want to do
or who you want to be, just once,
believe in those dream
If we don't believe
in our dream now
I believe that later
we will regret it
That's why, how about
giving a chance, at least once,
to our dreams?
Thank you
for lending me your ears
