In February, the Stockport LINk held three HealthWatch workshops for LINk members. The
workshops started with an introduction to the LINk and a reminder for members how LINk
came into being and went on to ask several questions about the development of the new
Local HealthWatch. This included: Questions around engagement and how HealthWatch will
engage with the local community, the LINk members’ first impressions of HealthWatch,
relationships HealthWatch must have and how the LINk will develop into HealthWatch.
[Inaudible]
...that’s an opportunity, definitely. Better Care for patients - yep, that’s what we’re
striving for.
...and this would provide a platform for local people to get more involved in health & social
care. And different from the PPI Forums, that concentrate purely on health. LINk was also
supposed to look at social care issues.
So, what are we looking at? We want HealthWatch to have a great profile in the public. We’re
there as their champions. To be able to get out into the field with the various media
bodies and people like that to ensure that the message of HealthWatch is known by everybody.
Joyce Drummond, LINk Member: This afternoon’s meeting’s been very good, very forthcoming.
And as a result, we’re hoping to get out and about more to speak to more people to
make more people aware of what is actually happening in Stockport with the HealthWatch.
I came along today to find out where we are up to with HealthWatch and to have a say in
where we want to go onto from here.
We’ve just completed the final of our three HealthWatch discussion sessions with LINk
members that have taken place on the 13th and 14th of February. During the sessions,
we were asking LINk members about what they thought HealthWatch was going to look like,
what kind of activities HealthWatch could do to make sure they were interested in being
involved... All the feedback that we’ve gained today will go towards the Health & Wellbeing
Conference on 1st March as well as further work with the LINk members around the development
of HealthWatch.
