What fascinates me about psychology is how this field is so vibrant and multidisciplinary.
Psychology opens the doors for students to create their own niche whether in social psychology,
child development or behavioral neural science, drawing on many converging areas allowing
to explore research as well. I have to say one of the greatest things about psychology
and this department is the professors, to me they can either break or make a class,
but the way that the professors that I have opportunity to train and learn from have been
amazing and they are very committed, they are very reliable and they are always there
to answer your questions. My student involvement has been tremendous over these past four years,
since second year I've been involved for the Peer Help Center as a student mentor so helping
other high school students, and then now I'm a peer helper so just in the office interacting
with other university students in active listening sessions. I'm also a student mentor for the
faculty of social sciences and that has been an amazing experience that I'm more then grateful
to have the opportunity to again interact with students. An experience that I have had
on campus that will stay with me forever is my current role that I play as a student mentor,
I have the great opportunity to meeting lots of students who are going through issues that
I have more than many times gone through myself so being able to help students coming into
the center and talking to them with whatever they're going through and seeing the smiles
on their faces knowing that I've made a difference is a great experience that I will cherish
forever.
