On this week's episode we are heading up to a piece of property known as the Twin Creek Sixty.
We're going to do some food plot maintenance, some brush hogging, and we are going to take a look at a special
gun that's being engraved specially for The Huntin' Grounds.
[Intro] The legacy of the sportsman is fading,
and traditions are being lost.
We are not meant to just live on this earth,
but we are to subdue it, and have dominion over it,
to preserve the sport of hunting,
and to pass on traditions to the youth.
That is our legacy,
the Legacy of The Huntin' Grounds.
The Huntin' Grounds is brought to you by:

And now time for the DigIn' 365 Management Moment
Well here we are, Episode 12. We'll start off with some action and head up to
Twin Creek Sixty
As you can see, we've brush hogged the edge of this food plot
and we're going to go ahead, go through and spray it with Round-Up
and kill everything off so the weeds don't try to invade the food plot.
We're out here this year for the third time spraying Round-up
on this food plot
to eliminate all the evasive species, so this food plot can express its full potential.
Now earlier in the year we came to this property and did a lot of brush hogging
trying to create trails that's going to lead the deer directly to our food plots.
And we try to take out some of this ***,
brush because it's not the kind of stuff that that the deer like to bed up against for warmth.
But now that it's all greened up, we see that we need to do some more brush hogging
because there's just not the amount of bedding area that we would like to have in this area.
So I have gone through, in this really thick area, and kind of sectioned it off where I'm doing strips inside of it,
and it's going to create the ideal bedding area for deer.
Recently, The Huntin' Grounds added Golden's Gun engraving as one of our new Sponsors.
Barry does great work and his craftsmanship is out of this world. So we
decide to get together and have one of our guns done and themed to The Huntin' Grounds.
You will not believe the craftsmanship on this gun, let's take a look.
We are on our way to Barry Golden's firearms engraving. He's one of our new sponsors,
he does a great job on engraving any kind of firearms. I gave him my .45,
it's kind of a special project,
We've been going back and forth on the design, and so we are going to go in today and
finalize that, and get started on the project. It should be something really cool and should
something that all of enjoy. Especially if you enjoy engraved guns.
(Barry) Making something like an oak leaf scroll and, I haven't decided, this one I put the 2 tiny acorns there.
I don't know if I can get those cut in we'll see.
This is running leaf and this is running wheat. That will really, really fit in good there too.
(Barry) Other than that I think
you are a proud owner of a Golden gun!
(Steve)I think so, I think it turned out great! I do absolutely love it!
I think the detailed work with all of the acorns and everything just sets it apart.
If you guys like the work that he did on our gun and would be interested in having him take
a look at one of your guns, please look them up on Facebook as Golden's Gun Engraving.
And we are also going to put up their number at the bottom of the screen so you can contact them.
Guys, by looking them up on Facebook, you're not only supporting them, but you are supporting us,
and i promise you won't be disappointed.
If you have a unique tip or technique
that may aid other hunters in the field
and would like to submit them to The Huntin' Grounds, please contact us at
Well, I'm out here on our largest food plot in Twin Creek 60 piece of property.
Now, our other food plot is located further back on our property, it's going to be a sanctuary food plot.
It's going to be the one we don't hunt at all, but we will actually hunt this food plot.
Now earlier this spring we came in and we planted soybeans and corn in this food plot.
The reason we planted corn in this food plot was to give some added structure to this food plot.
We wanted to have some structure where the soybeans could actually grow up on, give them some added height,
and once the soybeans go dormant the corn is still going to be here. It's going to give some
structure to the food plot. It's going to make the deer feel more comfortable to go ahead
to feed out here in the food plot because they are kind of hidden.
Like you saw earlier in the video, a week ago the guys came out with Round-up
trying to kill a lot of these invasive species that are coming into this food plot
because it is the first year of this food plot. and we don't have a lot of these weeds killed out yet.
But they did a good job because they came in with hand sprayers and were
really specific with what they sprayed because we couldn't spray this corn, otherwise it would kill it.
But as you see a lot of the weeds are actually dying off in this food plot.
It's looking really good.
It's getting a lot of good browse. When we actually came out here, we spooked a few deer out of the field.
But I just couldn't be more happy with the way this is panning out,
and I can't wait to be sitting over this field come this hunting season.
Well, that's it for this week's episode. I hope you guys enjoyed it and guys,
if you are wanting to help us out us out,
the best thing you can do share this link on your Facebook page or send it as
an email. Until next time go out of your way to get a youth or a new hunter involved
in the outdoors, and as always have a better than average day.
