Convo has recently released a new feature, Point-to-Point Video Message.
Conveniently, you can call your friend and if s/he isn't home, a 5-second countdown will automatically begin
and a recording will begin for your signed message.
The message will then be emailed to your friend for a later viewing.
We wanted to know your opinions and feedback, so we did a survey.
We found that these were common complaints:
some felt that they were weak with improv delivery,
or they felt that their messages were not smooth, causing their intention to become misunderstood.
Another concern was that some did not want to be recorded on days they did not look their best.
We listened and thought about how to resolve these issues.
I have a background in acting myself, so I completely get that
managing a professional and clear message on the first try isn't easy.
That's why acting is hard work.
The topic of acting made us think,
"Hey, who has the best actors with professional and clear ASL delivery?"
Why, the answer was Deaf West Theater!
We decided to give it a go and contacted DWT.
And it's really happened! Convo and DWT are currently in a partnership!
We're extremely excited.
We are thrilled and honored to be asked by Convo
to be a part of this wonderful and noteworthy project.
Our actors, directors, designers, and crew are committed to our work everyday for love,
and to see that love extend into thousands of homes everywhere, everyday, is incredibly inspiring to us.
Again, thank you to Convo for this wonderful opportunity.
Deaf West has agreed to have their actors available for Convo callers.
Every time you call a friend and you are automatically transferred to a live recording,
you will be given two options: Send video straight to the number you were calling
or send to DWT before it is delivered to the receiving caller.
How does it work? Watch.
Hi Sandra.
I'm Jerry, remember me from last night?
Hmm?
Uhh..
You're an awesome woman.
I'd like to talk with you.
Call me?
ILY-- ah, no.
Hello Sandra.
This is a message from Jerry.
Last night, I truly enjoyed your company.
I feel that we have a connection.
If you feel the same way,
call me back.
What you just saw was a demonstration of a Deaf West actor signing a modified message to be sent as the final video.
DWT actors will have a special signal, notifying them whenever they have a message to translate.
They will drop everything to work on rewording the message and then send it to the receiving caller.
They will be available 24/7 as it is part of their job now.
This is a new project, so kindly give us a one-hour window from the time you send your message to DWT
for their actors to rework and perfect the finalized message to the time your friend receives the Video Message.
It should take a maximum of an hour.
Our goal is to ultimately reduce the wait time to 10 minutes.
Be on the lookout for this new feature; it will arrive your Video Message!
