Hi, my name is Ando Andrianady,
I’m 25 years old,
and I’m a young leader of The YMCAs of Québec.
I’m from Madagascar
and I came to Canada in 2008 to study economics and political science.
As a young leader of the YMCA,
you have to be sensitive to others,
you have to be outgoing,
and you also have to be engaged in community projects.
Before I came to the Y,
I felt I didn’t have any self-confidence.
The Y’s social engagement projects had a huge impact on me
because I now feel I’m more confident,
I know what I want out of life.
Above all, they reflect my values,
and I realize I am someone who likes to help others
and get involved in community projects.
My long-term plan
is to develop a project in Madagascar for children
to implement canteens in public elementary schools across the Big Island.
To be a leader is to be inspiring!
