Alright, my name is Ryan Scott, I'm the project lead of sWords and Soldiers. The s is silent.
sWords and Soldiers is a game designed to enhance the player's literary prowess in a
fun and engaging way. The strongest victors will be those that possess not only a vocabulary
rivaling that of the GODS THEMSELVES but also, you know, the ability to spell those words.
Did you know that less than half the adults in America can spell more than a third of
the words in their vocabulary? No? Well that's probably because I just made up that statistic.
But in all seriousness, ask yourself: How much of my vocabulary am I capable of spelling
correctly? If I got into an argument with you, would you be able to spell argument?
Definitely you say! But can you spell definitely? Most people aren't even conscious that they
don't know how to spell conscious. And while it can be embarassing when you realize you
don't know how to spell embarassment, it is quite exhilarating once you've learned how
to spell exhilarate.
But wait, that's not all! Are you tired of always losing to your more verbose friends?
Are you in possession of superior math skills, wielding numbers like a Ninja wielding shuriken?
Then we have just the game for you! Nunberchucks and Soldiers challenges you to make a target
goal number using any combination of numbers and basic arithmetic operations. Its literally
the exact same game as sWords and Soldiers, but it uses math instead of words.
sWords (or Nunberchucks) and Soldiers is a round based realtime word/number game, each
round consists of an initial 60 seconds in which each player's resources respawn immediately
after being consumed. Once the initial 60 seconds has passed, resources will no longer
spawn, and each player has until the last unit dies on the battlefield to consume what
remains. The goal is to generate as many units as possible to siege your opponent's castle.
Rounds repeat until one player's castle is destroyed.
In addition to sWords and Nunberchucks, we are also working on a chemistry version of
the game, where the goal is to make chemical compounds that are complete based upon the
octet rule. However, the awesomeness that is ArSeNiC and Soldiers is not in a demoable
state at this time. With luck, we'll have the details of its contract worked out with
its agent by April, at which time it will be ready to shine in Seattle!
