Hi everybody. Let's see - I thought I'd give you a little update on my garden.
Remember I showed you the garden a couple of weeks back, maybe three weeks back?
This is the butterfly bush that's very happy. The bees are happy too; they love it. Oops,
there's a bee here -- so beautiful.
It had some nice, big, fat, yellow butterflies on it the other day - that was great.
I haven't seen any hummingbirds, though. I was kind of hoping to get them. Anyway, that's
the butterfly bush.
Look at this - blueberries. They just came out.
Look at these little guys. Let me take one. Uhm, they're good.
This is kind of a pretty blueberry bush.
It turned out to be a nice shape and it's doing really well and now I can come out for
afternoon snacks.
Look at my tomato plant - okay, I have to say that this year I'm proud of myself because
last year I couldn't grow tomatoes to save my life.
This year they're growing like crazy. Now I cut them back the other day.
This was like a huge mass of green leaves before but my father-in-law coached me on
how to trim it - I think I trimmed it a little too much - but anyway the tomatoes are looking
great, nice big ones.
Do you see them in there? They're going to start turning yellow and we have lots more
coming in so I'll be having lots of tomatoes I'm sure.
I'll be making Michael spaghetti sauce.
Let's see - here's some broccoli, the broccoli leaves remember I told you about?
This is catnip. PouPon is so happy because everyday he gets catnip now.
And some red lettuce - can you see that red lettuce - looks good.
This is the spinach and the kale and the Swiss chard. Okay, the spinach is going a little
crazy,
I've got to keep pinching it back - all these little buds and stuff - if you pinch them
back they keep putting out leaves.
But it's great - I just come out and grab some greens for smoothies.
And then look at these carrots. Remember the little tiny carrots that I had?
Now they're huge purple carrots. And then here is the sage, it's hiding in there, it's
looking good.
I could probably pull out the carrots pretty soon. I'm kind of nervous - the last time
I tried to pull one out it was way too early.
And finally, here's my peppers and purple sage. Now the purple sage is doing great.
The peppers - they're okay but I think that they got overwatered with all the rain because
some of the leaves started turning yellow and I had to take them off.
I'm not sure why that is. I see all these little peppers wanting to come in but it's
- I don't know - so if you have any pepper advice, let me know.
Anyway, that's the garden. You see? It works.
And I'm so excited that many of you have shared with me that you were inspired to start your
own and that you planted some food.
I love that. It makes me really, really happy.
So thanks for watching and have a great day.
