Hello and welcome. Janet Beckers here with your Wonderful Web TV Tip of the Week. Today
I'm going to be talking about things that you should be doing first thing of a morning
and in the afternoon when you finish work that are going to increase your profitability
and your sanity. See you on the other side. Hi. If you've been watching my videos for
the last few weeks, you will know that I have just spent the last week and a half walking
through the wilderness in Tasmania. So hiking with a big heavy pack on my back and my tent,
all of my food, everything that I am going to need has been carried on my back and we've
been camping every night and there's been a lot of preparation going up for that and
now, as you're watching this I should be back here in New South Wales; back in my home.
Fingers crossed everything went well. Now something that I know from experience from
having done really long hikes before that I know makes a huge difference to how easy
it is and how smoothly things go and the things that I know that also apply to business that
make it run so smoothly for you. So here's the relationship. As you are hiking, if you've
done any hiking before, you will know that one of the most important things that you
can be doing to make it so that you can get to relax more is you need to have routines.
So for example you know when you get to your campsite that you're going to have a routine
of something like rehydrate my food so that that can be happening while I next put the
kettle on to have a cup of tea and reward myself. Next thing is I'm going to put my
tent up, get my sleeping bag out. Then I'm going to do things like I'm going to prepare
everything ready for the morning so I can just get up when I'm a bit *** and things
can get going. The routine that you have about how you are going to do your washing up. Where
do you put things in your tent. These are lovely little routines and habits that you
get, that can only come from experience, make such a huge difference to how much you get
to enjoy the ride and how much energy you have to actually use in order to be able to
get the outcome you want; which is to have a lot of fun in a beautiful, beautiful surrounding.
So how does that relate to your business? It may not sound sexy but one of the things
that's going to make a huge difference to how much energy you have to put into your
business in order to get the results is the routines that you have at the beginning of
the day and the end of the day. For example, a routine that I have at the beginning of
the day is to check through a to-do list and make sure that everything that I'm going to
have on there, that I've got everything that I need to do and then I go through it and
I look in the order of which one's going to make me money now, which one tomorrow, which
one in the next week; that's how I prioritise them. And then I go through and I put a little
number; you know one to a trillion of what order I need to do those. Once I've done all
that energy taking thing, then all I have to do is just follow the dots. Follow the
order. I might be tempted to go over somewhere else and start on this number but nope; I
know I've already worked out that I've got to do this one first. That's a routine at
the beginning of the day. It means that you use your energy in one block and then after
that you don't have to think so much. It will make your business more profitable. At the
end of the day, a really great routine to get into is to have a look at what you did
during the day, what you didn't do, and then write your list for the next day. What are
the things that you think that you are going to have to do and what are things that are
carrying over and some little notes to yourself. And if you can, put down what is going to
be priority number one and two for the next day. So if you get into those sorts of routines,
it's less thinking and you sleep better too I can tell you. So, I'd love to hear from
you. What are routines that you have in your business that mean that you can concentrate
your thought and your energy in one go and then you don't have to think too much. And
I'd also love to hear from you about routines that you may have if you've ever done long
hiking as well. What were things that are routines that made a huge difference to you.
I'll actually be able to watch this and continue the conversation because I'm actually back
in my home and in my office - fingers crossed. So I'd love to hear your stories as well and
we can share some tips as we go. Okay. I'll see you down below.
