There's a symbol library built into PI ProcessBook. You access it through this icon right here.
The symbol library archive can also find it through Draw > Symbol. Either way, you have to draw a bounding box
to be the size of the symbol that you want to put on here, so you kind of need to know
what you're doing before--know what you're going be building before you go out and pick.
I'm going to go ahead and pick a tank and for this tank--I think I'll choose this tag
right here--we'll go ahead and insert that. That becomes a symbol that you can now make
use of. Now both as you're creating this or after you've created it you have options available.
So if we take a look at the options here we can specify, for example, we want to make
this hollow and then it shows up like a more primitive graphic. I can go back to the original.
I can make it shaded solid etc. You can also choose the orientation. I can rotate this
for example. I can flip this horizontally or vertically and then I can also rotate it.
Let's go with no flip and we can rotate this say 90° etc. These are some of the options
that are available for you and that's either when you're actually building it originally
or after you've already created that graphic. Now if the graphic that you want isn't in
our symbol library we cannot extend it. It is not an extensible symbol library but we
do have an option to bring in any kind of the picture in any windows form--just about
any windows format you need. So for example by choosing graphic--I'll go ahead and put
this graphic right here--I'm going to go out and browse in my documents for this right
here and as you can see we have some options here. I'm going to stretch. Let me fit the
rectangle to the original image size here. These are options that you have available
to you. So this is our mechanism for bringing graphics that you won't find originally in
our symbol library. Now you may notice when working with this imported.jpg file here you
don't have some of the options you normally have like choosing the background color etc.
so you're going to end up having to work around--if you've got specific things you may have to
work around that by changing for example the background of your display etc.
