Hi YouTube it's domdomegg, and I'm here on my server - on the KindCrack SMP server, we're
not quite sure on a name yet. So, yeah, what I've got for you today is a little - well
kind of me messing about with redstone, and trying to make my own soul sand nether wart
farm. What I'm trying to do is make the most piston efficient nether wart farm, because
most nether wart farms I've seen out there use a piston to pull down each one - each
soulsand block which is kind of inefficient seeing as you could have 3 here, and three
on the other side which push back and forth, and that's what I'm going to try and do. Anyways,
so we're going to do this. You know what I'll get the resources and then I'll be back. Ok,
I'm back and I'm just - I've got all the necessary things I need, this is an overkill. At the
end I'll probably edit in an actual needed resources list so we can get the right amount
of resources. Wow, I've just realised I've left these out. Because pistons can push a
maximum of 12 blocks that is the limitation, but still, two pistons for 12 blocks, it's
a hell of a lot more efficient than 12 pistons for 12 blocks. So there we go, my 16 blocks
all used up. We don't need the sticky pistons, those were just incase we messed up or something,
I dunno. So, lets get started. So I'm going to - wow. This is kind of my ridiculous diamond
pick, with silk touch. Which I just repaired on an anvil before I started. So we are going
to place pistons 3 like this. They don't need to be sticky, normal pistons will be fine.
What I'm going to do is I'll lay redstone - Yep, I was trying this out before so that's
why there are pistons there. I don't need these - Oh there stickies, I want to save
my sticky pistons. I'll probably build a slime farm soon. So I'll just put redstone there
for the future. So if we put a button on that block - I don't have one on me - actually
there we go. Can't really see it. I'll get a wood button soon. I think it's 12 blocks.
12 blocks seems like a normal number. Ah there we go it is 12 blocks. So what we're going
to do is because this is where it is when it is extended, I want to save a bit of redstone
so we don't have to do it all along here - well we could but it would be possibly slightly
more easy. Ok, I'm back, the server just did a restart. So, you place a torch here, under
the soul sand. Then anything there will be activated so if we place a piston there it
won't be at the moment because you can't activate a piston by powering the block it's pushing.
So what we're going to do is first place the pistons in the right place. And we're going
to make just a little bit of space down here. Now we will have to take the current out of
this block, because that's where it's - this block is being powered - so if we place redstone
here that will light up, and we can just take the current from that - can you put it under
the piston? No you can't, so what we're going to have to do is go like this, sorry I'm a
bit crazy with neatness. So as you can see they've all extended now, which is good, so
this has stopped lighting up, so we'll make a little more space, we'll fill this all in
in a minute. So, good, we can have that one going straight into the first one, save on
a few repeaters. Something bads happened to him I guess. He just died in the nether earlier.
So there, that should work, I think. So the way this will work is that when there is a
redstone torch here it will power this block, which powers this redstone dust then in turn
that will power all these, and I've just realised we need an inverter because otherwise they
will always be extended and you wouldn't be able to push from the other side. I think
maybe because it is being pushed by a piston it is not giving a block update, because it
is updating the redstone, but it's not updating the pistons, so you can see those torches
are on but the pistons are not firing. Ah I see what's the problem - this goes on for
too long for these to push back, and by the time that's happened they're no longer being
updated, so we want a bit of delay on everything. Probably be easier to make a little hole here.
There, I'll just put these like that. Having redstone here will power off these redstone
torches, plus they won't mess with each other because of the repeater, which is quite a
useful trick for saving on redstone. I'm worried I'm going to come out the side of my hill,
because this is all in a hill, that's why I haven't changed the walls because I want
it to be kind of hidden, even though it's not very hidden most of it - it will be like
my secret thing - I dunno. Does this power here? Yeah it does. Ok, so we're going to
put this to four ticks, four ticks - I think that should probably be enough. We could probably
get away with less even. This is probably quite wasteful as well. You know what, I think
two will be fine. So I'm just going to place two there, and then we can save on all that
space as well. Now - why are these all extended, it's a bit weird. Oh we haven't inverted it,
have we, so we'll - let's do that quickly. Let's get a block, and then it inverts it.
So these should be powered off by default, even though. There! Ta da... It works - let's
cover it up now that we actually know it works. I'm just going to get some half-slabs and
put them over the top here, and I'll be back. Ok, I am back and I've found out - I tired
to replace it with a wood button, because the signal length is longer and these won't
retract unless you use more repeaters, unless you add another repeater and to be honest
I could just put some dirt or something else and then it's much more obvious. There, so
now you press it and it pushes and pushes back. If I grab some nether wart.... Let's
eat some food so I can sprint up. Make things a bit faster - I have nether wart in these
auto brewing things, yeah let's just steal it. This could be infinitely tillable I think,
basically as long as you keep every 12 or however long that is, maybe that's the 16
number I was thinking of, but you'll have to add repeaters. So if I add nether wart
here - You know what I doesn't have to be too much because we are not going to wait
for it to grow, and we press the button it all gets harvested, and you just walk over
it and you just pick it all up. Or, alternatively because this is less than a block you could
put hoppers all underneath here at it will collect everything, all of the nether wart
that drops, and it will be much easier to just have to replant - I might do that actually
because I have an iron farm, but yeah. So see you guys next episode. Next episode we
will have a proper tour of my base, and yeah, goodbye! Please Like and Subscribe!
