Cumberlovers, contain yourselves as it's been announced that Benedict Cumberbatch will play
Hamlet on stage next year.
The 37-year-old Sherlock and Star Trek actor will play William Shakespeare's tragic Danish
Prince from August to October in 2015 at London's Barbican Theatre.
Cumberbatch last graced the stage in the National Theatre's 2011 production of Frankenstein,
where he shared the roles of Frankenstein and his Monster with Johnny Lee Miller under
the careful guidance of director Danny Boyle.
This new show is being directed by Lydnsey Turner for Sonia Friedman Productions, Friedman
recently hailed Cumberbatch as "one of the most gifted actors of his generation".
Details on how to get your hands on tickets for this eagerly anticipated production will
be released in May, but expect to have to compete with Benedict's fervent fanbase.
