Good afternoon mustangs
I'm Jaydon!
And I'm Megan!
And this is your West News.
Today is Tuesday, October 15th, 2013.
Tomorrow the low is expected to be 35 degrees and the
high 60 degrees.
Don't forget -- it's National Teen Read Week! Come into
your West library and participate in the Scavenger Hunt.
You just may discover something NEW and you will be
entered in a drawing to win one of 15 colorful flash drive
wrist bands! See you in the library!
Now to Lucas in sports:
Your 9th grade varsity and JV volleyball teams traveled to
South last night. Varsity played a great game and they
won! Unfortunately for JV this was not the case. The girls
lost the first set, won the second set, and lost the last set
in a close match. We are now tied for second with East.
Fairmont and Riverglen are in the lead. The next two
games determine if we will end up on top. Keep working
hard girls. You've done a great job so far.
SHE SHOOTS! SHE SCORES!
The 7TH and 8TH grade lady Mustangs hoops season is
here! There is a 7th and 8th grade ladies basketball
players meeting tomorrow in the little gym right after you
finish lunch. GO MUSTANGS!
The 7th grade tennis team steamrolled the Fairmont
Falcons yesterday! In singles, it was all about Angela,
Aaron, Spencer, Kyle, Sterling, Jordan, Eva, Marianna,
Haley, Edward and Oceanna. In doubles, the teams of
Mads and Paytin, Maddie and Kale, Ashley and Angela,
and Jarod and Ryan earned victories. Practice hard and
play well...city is in less than two weeks!
If you are interested in wrestling this season, come and
talk to Coach Rowe or Coach Corbett right away. First
practice is next Thursday the 24th after school on the
stage in the small gym.
Attention all girls planning on trying out for 9th grade
basketball: tryouts begin Monday, October 28th, at 4:15.
Because the week of the 28th is the same week as
Parent Teacher Conferences, you will need to pick up a
tryout schedule from Coach Henderson. And, remember
girls, players cannot tryout if they have not turned in their
paperwork for their 9th grade physical to the nurse. If you
have any questions, talk to Coach Henderson in Room
104.
The 8th grade varsity volleyball team beat a good South
team in 3 sets last night.
The set scores were 24-26, 25-15 and 15-7. This was a
good team performance and shows what can be done
when players work together. The team had seventeen "3-
touch plays" and kept the South team to only 7 points in
the 3rd set. This means that not only do they earn an ice
cream, but they also earned cookies!! Nice match girls!!
Coach Johnston.
Now back to the studio!
Attention 7th graders interested in representing you class
in
student council. There will be an informational meeting
concerning the requirements to run for 7th grade
president and vice president tomorrow at break in
Room
104. Any questions talk to Mr. Henderson or Mrs.
Warnock. For more on this, here is a short video:
Any students who go to Borah High School for classes,
please do NOT go to Borah tomorrow, but instead, report
to the cafeteria.
Thanks, Mrs. Stoll
The quote of the day is from John Quincy Adams. He
said, "If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn
more, do more and become more, you are a
leader." So lead by example Mustangs!
This is Wes!
And Jaydon!
Stay classy West Jr. High!
