Recently I ordered an alien gear holster
from alien gear holsters dot com after waiting about two weeks for the holster
to be made
my package finally arrived in the mail
I am going to open it up and see what we got should be
a nice holster for my M&P pistol I have an M&P shield i want to carry
and read about alien gear holsters on Facebook
a couple of other places and I decided to check them out. first out of the bag to say
a nice touch nice branded bank here
nice plastic bag keeping all the contents together
looks pretty awesome dump everything out
piece of paper here
that is my receipt
comes with a good set of instructions information about the warranty
talking about their guarantee information on how to wear holsters
and use them properly [you probably can't read that]
on the back it talks about how to adjust the holster
and also has cool QR Code i guess I will scan that later and see where that goes
other items in the bag
got a nice bag of screws grommets and spacers of all different sizes and sectors
about 15 spacers in there
2 or 3 Chicago screw pieces and also an allen wrench
another nice touch these generally come with BladeTech
holsters and I really like getting the bag spare parts
because before long if you wear firearm every day
you know that you lose screws and parts and pieces they just disappear
Kind of like disappearing socks in the dryer anyhow here is the holster
there are a couple little mark on it. I already had it out of the bag trying it out
I opened it up before this video and test drove it.
the holster is a well-constructed it's a hybrid holster
it's constructed of Kydex and single ply leather.
it has 2 or 3 sets of Chicago screws
and it's got some really really stout clips
really stout steel clips all right as I said I ordered this for my M&P Shield
I was checking to fit and finish earlier
got some marks on here plus I wore it for half a day to see how
comfortable it is
getting the M&P make sure we are clear
the M&P has a really
really good fit in there sweat shield it comes up all the way past the back
of the firearm
so was gonna keep that rubbing on my while I am carrying it. The front Kydex
is stood off a little bit from the leather I don't know
you can see that video your but there's about a quarter inch gap right here
with a rubber grommet underneath there nice Chicago screws and screwsets
through
shake test
retention about 50-50 I am sure when I am wearing it
is going to lock in there
it has a little groove in here where it locks on the trigger guard
it doesn't lock up a BladeTech does
it definately does not lock up like a Serpa holster. It is a good friction
fit though in there for retention empty gun holster a pretty good shape is coming
out about a quarter-inch
but overall it looks like it will stay put where I want when I am wearing it
everything looks on really well constructed
really nice thick leather here that looks like it's a little bit over an
1/8th inch
whereas maybe three or four millimeter leather
basically 3/16ths inch material the Kydex appears to be ninety thousandths Kydex
I will not be at all worried where this
and have to go prone on top of this holster or anything of that nature
it looks fairly stout was like it's gonna be awesome holster
we're gonna try it out
okay part 2 of the review after I wore he holster for a couple of days
as you can see the holsters already starting to shape itself
this is a nice curvature inner from my where it is pressing against my body
good news is that it has not absorbed a lot of sweat it does appear to have some kind of
an oil finish or some kinda by curing compound on leather
so it's not staining at all everything
fits in real well, it carried real well
down here you see the leather starting to catch marks from a firearm by a few test
draws out here to try it from
concealment a few spot on the leather but that's really typical
what that is where all the control surfaces are touching against the side
of the leather overall for comfort
it's not too bad for comfort I do wish there was a second ply of leather back
here to cover up some
screws so they're not touching on me we're gonna see how the
Texas summer does with sweat and such I'm really hoping these are going to start
to rust
or corrode if they do I'll post an update to this video and let you all
know
overall for comfort 4 stars out of 5 pretty good
it is fairly comfortable
the price point right on its holster the holster cost right at thirty dollars
you know if they had a second ply they had
to add to the back, I would expect that to add about ten to fifteen dollars the cost the holster
that may be something alien gear comes out with in the future
overall I would say holsters a good value
