This is a tutorial for how to job search using job bank and actually customizing your search so you can find jobs in specific locations.
The first thing you are going to want to do is go on the job bank website.
An easy way to do this is just type jobbank into google and it is usually the first item that will pop up.
If not you can just type in www.jobbank.gc.ca into your address bar.
When you get to the jobbank website there is the job seekers and workers title and you will click on job search unless you are a student.
If so, you can go to the student and youth search to see student jobs that are available for you.
The page asks where you live so this is where you will choose the province where you live and where you want to find a job.
Now, this is the page where you will actually customize your job search a bit more.
You can search by text by typing in a job title or number or you can just leave it empty to see all jobs.
You can search by date, you can also search by location.
This is where you would go in and select jobs just for the Hamilton Area and if you need to you can select more than one area by holding down the control key on your keyboard and clicking on the second location.
Under job category, this is where you will choose the field of the job you want.
You can choose business, health, management, sales or you can simply choose all occupations to see all the jobs that are available.
Similar to the location feature you can use the control button and click on another category if you want to select more than one category.
Below are more search options.
You can choose if you want government funded jobs and placement agencies included in your search.
Once you are done, click the search button and here is where they will ask you to refine your search more if you want.
Here I have Hamilton and Area chosen but I have the option to choose if I just want jobs in Hamilton Downtown, Hamilton East/Stoney Creek, Hamilton Mountain/Ancaster.
You can click on one and just click refine and the page will refresh and show you jobs that match your inquiry.
Let’s check out the day camp counselor job.
It will bring you to a page that will tell you about the job, the skills required, salary and your anticipated start date.
If you scroll go down it will show you the employer and how you should apply.
Job bank recommends you only apply to the job in the manner specified by the employer.
For this job, they require you to use their website or by email.
The page also shows you when the job is advertising until and how long you have to send your resume to them.
So that is how you would search for a job using jobbank and customizing your location.
