Hi, Otto here for Bavarian Autosport. Today we are going to be installing the Angel Eye
Projector headlights on this 325XI. In order to do we have to remove the original headlights.
First thing we do is remove the parking light lens. There are two styles of parking light
lens attachments on the E46 chassis; one snaps out and one has a screw projector. This hole
here is the access point for both styles; this particular one is a snap out. Using a
long screw driver, feel down through the hole until you feel the springy tab and simply
push down and forward. That releases the light, pull it out and remove the bulb socket. The
parking lights that have a screw connector would use a Philips head screwdriver, loosen
the connector and remove the parking light in a similar manner as before. The next item
to remove is the lower trim panel. It is snapped in here and over here. First remove this side.
If you follow the tab in, there is a little slot you can put the screwdriver into. Put
the screwdriver in and simply pry outward. This side is removed in a similar manner;
pry the snap tab on the inside to release this end. There are four fasteners on the
headlight itself. Two are here, one is straight down here, and one is straight down here.
Use a socket and ratchet, 8mm. To get the bolt straight back here, use the extension.
This one once it is loose, if it does not come up with the socket, use the needle nose
pliers to remove the bolt. A magnetic pick up tool could also be used. Next, unplug the
low beam plug and the high beam plug. The plugs have tabs which are pressed here to
release. The headlight is ready to pull out. Here is the new headlight assembly. This is the LED
Angel Eyes, super bright with the projector low beams. This particular set is a halogen
set we also offer the sets for cars with HID and Xenon headlights. On this unit, this is
the connector, for the low beam, the connector for the high beam and this connector is for
the Angel Eyes. This is the Angel Eyes harness; this connector will connect here, and one
for the other side of the car as well. The rest of the harness will be wired in to power
the Angel Eyes. This headlight has a mounting bracket on the
assembly. This is the screw we removed from behind and this is the one from the side.
On the bracket here there is this one and inboard there is this one. You could remove
this bracket and install the entire unit with the bracket, but it is easier to remove the
bracket from the headlight and use the original bracket. Some of the cars will have either
8mm or 10mm screws. You can discard the bracket removed from the light assembly.
The headlight is ready to be slid into place. Watch the wires and slide the headlight into
place onto the existing bracket. Put the mounting screws in. Use 10mm screws. Use the needle
nose to place the screws and then tighten with the socket. Do not tighten the screws
all the way, until all four screws are in place. There is room for adjustment in how
the headlight sits. Look at the old headlight, notice how the screws were set by the marks
that were left behind on the old headlight and mimic that with the new headlight. These
can be adjusted once you have the parking light in place and have closed the hood if
you notice the headlight is not in the right place tighten up the remaining 10mm screws
and the light will be fully mounted. Next install the front trim piece, the parking
light and complete the wiring. The low beam headlight harness from the car will plug into
the low beam harness from the headlight; the high beam harness from the headlight will
plug into the high beam harness from the car. The last connector left is the connector for the Angel
Eyes. The headlights are fully functional at this point except for the Angel Eyes.
