Should my wife have access to my email?
If it was your work computer, at least you could deny her access, because most companies
say not to let friends or family use your computer.
This is my personal email. She wants to read it.
There’s a whole legal can of worms involved in this. In 2011, a guy went to jail for reading
her email against her will.
I heard that he confirmed she was having an affair. It isn’t fair that the affair is
legal, but finding out about it is not.
It depends on the state law. Some states would say that it isn’t snooping if it is a commonly
owned computer, while others might not consider it eavesdropping if it is a shared machine.
That’s like the rules on recording a phone call. Some states say you can even if the
other person is ignorant, while others say you both have to agree to it.
And that’s why a lot of guys are happy to give a girl a cell phone they pay for. Then
they can read her messages to his heart’s delight, because he owns it.
Yeah. He can request a long list of meaningless text messages along with the bill.
The real question is why she wants to read your email. It might be due to a lack of respect
like supervising a child.
Or a lack of trust, like suspecting that I’m cheating.
I wonder if she thinks this is the only way to know what you are really thinking, as if
reading emails about your fantasy football will reveal your innermost thoughts and feelings.
She said that people shouldn’t hide anything from their spouses.
I recently heard a talk on privacy where the guy says the most revealing thing you can
show someone is your search history.
And the NSA has all of this, too. Which is getting a lot of people riled up.
Don’t tell her that, or she’ll think that she should have just as much right to read
my forwarded jokes as the government does.
