In this clip, we'll talk about finding an appropriate physician or surgeon to be involved
in your care when you have a breast reduction. I would look for a board certified plastic
surgeon from the American Board of Plastic Surgery. And, you can find that information
online or through you local medical society. Or through your local hospital. You should
find a surgeon that has affiliation with a local hospital. Although, your surgery can
be performed easily as an outpatient at a certified office facility or a certified surgery
center. You want to know that your doctor has been peer reviewed by peers in his community.
So, that if you do have a problem after a surgery or a complication it has been easily
taken care of at the local hospital as needed. As far as the facility for the surgery, as
long as the doctor has been properly credentialed and accredited by the local agencies for accreditation
for safety that would be an important consideration for where the surgery is performed. Generally,
the surgery can be performed as an outpatient. So, it's not necessary to stay overnight.
Usually, it's an operation that takes about two to four hours. And, then you can go home
the same day and see the doctor a few days later for early after care.
