Hi guys and welcome, today I'm going to do a Christmas special episode, where I look
at Android and where it started really. So here we go. So with Android Beta, it launched
in 2008 and was very similar to he Nokia phones did. This wasn't out to the public but still
had a big role to what we have today. Instead of Google Play it had the Android Market Place.
And had support for the camera but not video at the time. Most of the Google apps that
are out now, such as Gmail, Google Calendar, Maps and YouTube. It also comes with instant
messaging, SMS and MMS support. The iPhone took 3 more years after to put MMS support
so quite good there. It also comes with voice dialler, notifications, custom wallpapers
and Wi-Fi and Bluetooth if it does have compatibility. If we move on to Android Cupcake or 1.5, it
now supports video recording and you can upload straight to YouTube and Picasa straight from
the gallery. You can also put widgets and have folder support. You can put widgets on
the home screen and arrange games and messaging services ect. On screen keyboard with predication,
so this is aiming more at touch screens now. New animation effects and auto rotating so
if you tilt it to the left or something it can recognise it. If we move on to Android
1.6 now. It has a new camera, video and media gallery. Sort of user interface and looks
really. Also has a battery indicator at the notification bar. TTS or text to speech, an
improved search experience so if you use Google Search you now can search through your contacts,
apps and other things. You can do multi-touch support, so thats your pinch to zoom and more
than one finger at a time sort of thing. It supports higher pixel density phones and tablets.
In the Android Market Place, its sort of revamped. Now you also get screenshots as well. VPN
and CDMA and EVDO, sort of networks that are not GSM. If we move on to 2.2 now, this is
eclair. Now you get multiple account integration, so now you can use more than one Google
account
on your device.
