We'll actually look at them after they settle and check for the layers. Again if there's
two distinct layers, then it's immiscible or insoluble, but if there's just one layer
then it's miscible or soluble. An example of a solution that is immiscible or insoluble
would be the solution that's inside this test tube. As you can see there are distinct layers,
two distinct layers. You have a green liquid at the bottom and then a transparent liquid
above indicating that it is immiscible or insoluble, the two solutions or the two liquids.
You have your unknown solution in there, and then you have your solvent. The second one
which is our acetone unknown. We are looking at it and there are not two distinct layers
so this one is soluble or miscible.
