community pride to
our City. Innovation Theatre Works
is Central Oregon's first and only
professional theater organization
We are producing first
class professional theatre
in Central Oregon
We bring professional actors, designers
directors into town
to put on first class shows
Theater is a reflection
of our lives and
presented in a way where we can
all learn from it and also
love it. We're providing
this community with something that it
reflective of it's growth
the population and
in terms of it's cultural identity.
Innovation Theatre does it
a way that is
quite profound. When we
opened in Feb of 2008
with our very first production
in Sept of that same year
at the Tower, it was a production of Driving Miss Daisy
starring 4-time Emmy winner
Michael Learner of the Waltons.
Right now we are in rehearsal for a brand new
production called, My Way, a musical
tribute to Frank Sinatra.
We're going to tickle the community
we brought in 4 great performers
form So. Calif. and
and professional
director and a Broadway choreographer.
Newport won for their
facade mural because
they really created a
incredible beautification project
that really increases community
pride. We painted the mural
because we wanted to convey to our
consumers and passerbys
what we were in the inside of the store.
The old store was just kind of a
regular traditional store and
we wanted something that said, this is
Newport Ave. Market on the
outside. The mural was painted by
the artist Kem Smallenberg
and she had free rein on what
so most of what you see up there
is her idea. We just told her
we wanted to have some fun with it
Our motto is, Life is Short - Eat Good Food.
and that's kind of what we wanted to
also when we put the mural up
to have that tagline come out by showing really good
food. When one drives
on Newport Ave and they pass
Newport Market
it really kind of lightens your day
and it's very exciting. We feel
very blessed that the City signaled us
out to honor
us for our mural.
When we did it we had no idea that
we would be, we just
did it because we wanted to improve the neighborhood
I think art makes everybody
feel good and that's what
art does. Art is
art enhances and enriches
peoples lives.
