At age 25, I was behind on my bills and my promises to my family and wondering where
to go from there, and I had a chance to meet a very wealthy man. His name was Mr. Shoaff,
Mr. Earl Shoaff. And my good fortune was he invited me to go to work for him. And I spent
the next five years in his employ and then, unfortunately, he died at aged 49. But it
was five of the most spectacular years of my life, as someone cared about me enough
to take the time to teach me how to change, teach me how to grow and that's where I first
started hearing that language that I become sort of famous for, "For things to change,
you've got to change." I started hearing that at aged 25. And this man made such an incredible
impact on my life, changed my income, changed my bank account, changed my future. Everything
about me started in a real revolutionary way during that five years. And I wish that man
was still alive today, I'd be giving him a lot of credit for me having arrived here to
have a chance to spend this weekend with all of you.
