The video illustrates some of the concepts from the previous slide. Continuous dyeing
operations are used for flat fabrics such as sheeting or for high pile fabrics like
residential carpet. Overall, the process yields higher production efficiency than batch dyeing
while using less water and energy per yard of dyed fabric. However, continuous ranges
are costly to purchase and require a large amount of floor space for proper installation,
resulting in high fixed operating costs. To be cost effective, large dye lots are required.
Recently, continuous ranges have lost popularity to be used in the apparel market due to the
wide color demands of the modern consumer.
