On behalf of Expert Village, this is Paul Zuckerman with the cast of Chicago City Limits
here in New York City, and today we're going to show you some techniques for improvisational
comedy. When people see improvisational shows, they're often struck by how lightening quick
the improvisers are. Quite frankly, great improvisers are quickly witted, but there's
also exercises that we use to help us think out of the box. One of the real keys is to
not edit yourself but to go with the flow. We're going to show you an example of one
of the exercise to help foster our spontaneity. We're going to see how quick Rob is. Rob,
you have 30 seconds to come up with as many uses as you can for a pen. Well a pen is good
because you can write with it. Pen is because good because you can turn it this way and
it can be a like a little mustache. A pen is good because if you put it in this ear,
then someone can look in this end of it and see your brain. A pen is good because it can
a little sail ship in the invisible sea of air. A pen is good because if you put it up
here, you're like the mini statue of liberty. A pen is good because when you look deep inside
of it you can see your soul. A pen is good because if it was bendable it would be pendable.
