Hi my name is Dr. Kim Makoi. I am a holistic chiropractor from San Francisco, California
and this is how you treat bunions with alternative medicine. Contrary to popular belief bunions
are not actually growth on the foot although they look like them. They are actually bumps
usually seen along the side of the large toe at the joint where the toe meets the foot
here or on the pinky side of the foot. They can become quite prominent and quite painful.
What it actually is is it is almost always due to wearing bad shoes, very tight shoes,
more often in women. Those cute pointy toed shoes are very bad for your feet and what
it is is over time the joints instead of being lined up in a more or less straight manner
start to bend so when the toe bends inward the joint, this is the joint, it becomes more
prominent, it causes a bump which causes a bunion. So the main solution for bunions is
to wear shoes that give the toes lots of room for movement. Once you have a prominent bunion
it is very very hard to correct so as with everything prevention is the best medicine,
stick to shoes with plenty of room in the toes, avoid high heeled shoes and also make
sure you are getting enough calcium because sometimes a calcium deficiency can cause increased
growth along stressed areas of the bones, counterintuitively and that is how you treat
bunions with alternative medicine.
