Hello, my name is Susan Jewell and on behalf of Expert Village today I want to talk to
you about the topic of cholesterol. And in particular I want to talk to you about the
ways to decrease the intake of cholesterol in your diet and reduce your risk of getting
cardiovascular diseases like strokes and heart attacks. In this clip we're going to talk
about exercising because exercise is actually the number one recommendation that any medical
profession would advise a patient if their LDL which is the bad form of cholesterol is
over 130. They will recommend diet and exercising for us before they will put you on drug therapy.
Of course exercising there are so many various forms of exercise you can do. Good ones are
especially depending on your age and health status yoga, Pilates are two very good forms
of exercise if not only it strengthens your cardiovascular system it also tones your muscles.
Weight bearing exercises particularly good for woman to prevent osteoporosis. Also lifting
weights be careful if your in the older group, if you have back problems when you do the
lift weighting exercises. Swimming, jogging are very very good ways to keep your cardio
going functioning healthy. Exercising and losing weight is a way to maintain decreases
your risk of getting cardiovascular diseases. Some ways I want to show you about exercise.
Here is a stretchy band that you can buy very cheaply in any half store exercising store.
What you can do is sit nicely comfortably on a chair and you can just do like stretch
your leg exercise against tension so you can do that a couple of those. Just for example
five or ten increasing as you go and depending on the state of your health at the time that's
one good way to do exercising. Another good way to also prevent osteoporosis is if you
don't have weights at home you can improvise. Improvising are cheap ways to get two weights
like here I have two tin cans of food. Make sure they are equal weight and equal size
and do weight bearing exercises to prevent osteoporosis. Here we have two tin cans so
what you can do is stand up and you can just lift the cans up so it's kind of like some
weight against gravity. It's good for your bones in preventing brittleness and osteoporosis
as I said. It depends on what you like and your state. If your very healthy of course
you want to go to the gym and you want to really work out. And here is another one where
you want to lift weights so lifting weights make sure that you do it by knees and you
know you can just lift weights. This is just some suggestion of some exercising cause any
exercise as long as take precautions and you don't injure yourself is good because sedentary
life is absolutely is major contributing factor to having high cholesterol along with obesity
and getting cardiovascular diseases cholesterol.
