Alright sweet virtual reality enthusiasts of the internet. This is Ian the Virtual Reality
Ginger and in front of me I have the beautiful ASUS ROG G20CB-WS71: the most beautiful computer
name in the history of marketing. It just doesn’t get more creative than that.
I apologize if I *** this whole thing up. It’s my first unboxing and I don’t really
know what I do beside open it and show it to you.
I also want to apologize in advance for the fact that the shot is framed with computer
and crotch. That’s just how the framing worked out due to my height –all sincere
apologies where they’re due. Lets get into this bad boy.
[Virtual Reality Ginger Intro] It looks like, as far as I can tell, it’s
only really sealed right here. And I’m doing all of this upside down so I apologize if
there’s shoddy camera work there. I’m just basically sorry for everything that’s
going to happen in this video. So I’m going to cut the tape. This is a
one shot thing, man. If I screw this up, my whole channel fails.
Alright, let’s get the pocket knife out of frame just for the sake of not making people
nervous. And look, more cardboard! How exciting. Don’t forget the styrofoam too. Plenty of
styrofoam. I assume this is the keyboard. Let’s get
this bad boy open. No tape here. So here we have the packaged keyboard that came along
with it. It’s corded because everything in VR is apparently corded. And you have this
neat little chocking hazard too, in case you have a kid you want to get rid of.
Wow, that was bad. I’m almost sorry for that one.
Now we have whatever the *** this is. Open sesame! Here we go. Right here. It’s not
the computer, spoiler alert. Looks like we’ve got the classic users manual
slash register your warranty or nothing works, the computer explodes, on the one-year mark.
Take all that out of there and make sure to recycle that because I care about the environment.
Look at that. It’s the paired mouse, which, again, is corded because everything is corded
in virtual reality… at least for now. Boy, this sure looks fancy. I’m glad I paid top
dollar for this computer. I should have gone Alienware after all. Just kidding!
Now, I’m not the world’s best computer expert but I guess because the computer is
so small they had to give it an external power supply. We’ve got a cord. More cords for
more VR enjoyment. I got another cord - so many cords. They’re both power cables.
And for you PC experts out there, for the love of God, if I’m wrong, call me out and
insult me in the comments because that’s what so many people on YouTube are good at.
More cardboard down. Here we go. Time for the big kahuna - what you have all
been waiting for. Ok, here we go. Here she is.
Alright. Nothing important. So, here we have ROG G20, “deceptively powerful”,
for those of you who can’t read. We’ve got a list of specs here, obviously, like
I don’t know what I ordered because I read all that online.
This is the one with the Intel core i7-6700, it’s got 16GB of RAM. This one comes with
the Nvidia GTX 980, 1TB hard drive, 256GB solid-state drive, and all in all I think
it measures about 14 by 14 by 4 inches, I think that’s what the specs said, 4 or 5
inches. So you can see, it’s a really nice compact
computer, which was one of the reasons I bought a pre-built instead of building my own.
So I guess we’ll get this plastic off. Let’s make this a real unboxing. Oh! We’ve got
some more of that high tech masking tape holding the plastic in place.
Why am I breathing heavily? Am I really that out of shape?
Here it is, ladies and gentlemen, the ASUS G20CB-WS71. You can even see my fancy Oculus
Ready sticker which many people in the build your own PC community would tell me I paid
way too much for, and you know it’s probably going to fall off in 3 weeks anyways.
I guess the thing that would make the most sense I can show you the edges but of course
the thing everyone wants to see, maybe you want to see, the front. Here are your two
USB ports, you’ve got a mic jack and you’ve got a headphone jack, as well as the CD/DVD
drive - ultra slim, marketing stuff. You’ve got the top and of course, the most important
part, you’ve got the back. You’ve got all your ports back here as one might expect.
And that is the ASUS G20CB-WS71. Nothing fancy there, just some ASUS branding.
Alright, so again, that is your Oculus Ready G20CB-WS71.
I hope you all found this review helpful, or, not review. I’ll be getting the review
out here within the next couple of days. I hopefully will be able to get to work on it
later today and put it through some benchmark testing and some specs, do some screen captures
and stuff, and hopefully be able to get a video that captures how quiet it is and, of
course, you can see how small it is. It is a really nice, compact, portable computer
and it’s supposed to be ultra ultra quiet too.
So that’s it. I hope you found this video helpful. My name, again, is Ian and I am the
Virtual Reality Ginger. I’m doing everything I can to make virtual reality simple and easy
to understand for everyone. So if you liked this video, you want to see more videos like
