Sam what's a couple of your favorite birds?
Brown Pelican
Why do you like the brown pelican so much?
Because, um, it eats fish.
It eats fish, Okay.
Anything else you like about the brown pelican?
No.
Okay.
What about you Ian? What are a few of your favorite birds?
Um, my favorite groups of birds?
Sure, or specific birds.
Humming birds, bower birds, and birds of parasite, I mean birds of paradise are my favorite groups.
And which specific types of birds do you like the most?
In the hummingbird group, ruby-throated hummingbird.
What are some other birds?
Black-capped chickadee
Golden crowned sparrow
White crowned sparrow
European starling
Wow, that sounds like a lot.
Canada Geese
And besides our backyard do you guys have any other favorite places you like to watch birds?
I want to say something.
Yes, Sam
A place I like to see birds is at the library.
The library? Okay. And why do you think a lot of birds like to live by the library?
Because, there is a pond. Because there's two ponds.
There's two ponds?
No, actually three.
Oh.
Can I say ones that we've seen at the library?
Um, sure you can say a couple.
Mallard, Ring-necked Duck, Chinese Goose,
Canada Goose and Canada Goslings.
We saw them last time.
Okay. Alright.
Double-crested cormorant
Morning dove
bufflehead, and wood duck.
That's all that I can remember.
What about Sauvie Island? Can you tell me a little bit about that Ian?
When we went there for raptor road trip
we saw peregrine falcon and northern harrier and bald eagle and tundra or trumpeter swans
The two largest birds that I know about are the California and Andean Condor.
Oh, and which one's the largest?
California Condor.
Wow, what about the largest birds that you might see around here?
What are some of the largest ones?
Um, peregrine falcon, red-tailed hawk, rough-legged hawk, Swainson's hawk
Alright.
Bald eagle
And if you're lucky you might even see a Golden Eagle.
