TURKISH BOW MAKING DEMO

2 cm thick and 4cm wide maple uses for wooden limbs
a special mold for bending
bended limb keeps less 15 days in the mold
"Kasan" and "Sal" is sculptered from single piece of wood for three-piece-bow
"Kabza" (handle) is 33 cm long
"Cornelian Cherry" is better for war bows
The horn that is cutted with bandsaw is processed with heat
horn's surface is flattened by (8-9mm x 4cm)
For this procedure, a coarse sandpaper...
...that's glued to a marble block is favorable
Flexibility and stability check of the horn
A guide line is marked with a ruler for "Tashin" channels
The guide line is carved a bit more for clarity
Tashin maker tools may shows variety for every bowyers.
First notch of the tashin tool places on the guide line
5 tashin channels per centimeter carved for this bow
...and channels will be 1 mm deeps
'Kasan' should get into 15-17cm and...
...'Kabza' (handle) should get into the 'Sal' about 12 cm
"V" splices should be perfectly aligns
Kabza and Kasan fixes with "fish glue"
Tashin channels carves on the sinew side too

Horn fixes with a mixture of fish and skin glue
2-3 mm space is preserved for the 'Celik'
Wood and horn part of the handle sculpteres to fit in to the hand
'Sal' should be in 8-10 mm thick
Neccessary amounts of sinews calculates...
...before laying
Plenty amount of glue should prepare in approx. 60 degree Celcius
a horn or plastic comb is recommended to comb the sinew
Linen or powderless rubber gloves may uses for that
The brush that will be used for the glue should be organic
It is made from Rose wood and horse tail
The sinew side gluing
Old masters always weight the glue that will be used for each limb
Each master's way is different and secret
Sinews wets in warm water
... and excess water removes
Then sinews dippes in to the glue
...then it combs on a wooden surface
All the limb is covered with sinew starting from the middle of the handle
glue is applied to surface again after the first layer
And then the bow-ring tightens a little
This is how it will look after the third layer.
SOYA (BONE POINT FOR FLIGH ARROW) MAKING
boiled and cleaned Bone of the cattle's back leg is used in this demo
and cutted with a saw
Then it is roundes on a sandpaper mill
It could easily cutted with a fretsaw
Edge of the point side of the flight arrow is prepared
Point is fastened firmly
Soya (point) is drilled with a diamond tip
Depth and width should match exactly
Then it is glued to the shaft
Last retouches on a mill
