Be silent, creatures of my making
so I may hear my children pray. Isn't that beautiful?
This event is in honor of National Poetry Month
which happens to be in the month of April
and we wanted to put on an event that
would give us a chance to both
feed the heart and feed the mind which is the theme of our event
and so this evening we will be having
students and faculty coming to read poetry that
is meaningful
to them whether it may be through their
religious affiliation
or their philosophical views
or something that's just meaningful and inspiring to them.
Our father who art in heaven
hallow though thy name may be; it's not to you I pray. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth, but I will never call this place heaven.
We are celebrating community and
poetry and music and
food especially because the we've got a can food drive going on right now and we're also
giving away some free bread samples along with some cheese and fruit and different
spreads from around the world just to kind of build that community spirit.
We had a really bad week last week
with the bombings in Boston and so
I think it's really important now more than ever to recognize that
community is a really beautiful thing and that our
creativity in our poetry and our music and our art can
bring us together and do something good for other people.
