In this lesson, you are writing the code to
insert images into your web page. Something that they don’t mention
in the Lynda.com titles, is that you have to
actually have those images in the same file folder as
your HTML file, that way when you upload it to the server, they are in the
same place. The exception to that is if you are using
a specific web address to an actual file. We will get into that later.
For right now, you should save your images into your Web Scripting folder.
When you upload to publish your site
if you just hit publish here,
It should publish everything. It may give you the option
if you pick the page to publish
You may have to save first
You want to make sure that it
includes images and other files, because if you don’t upload them
the images won’t work. So I
am going to go ahead and hit publish here, and you will notice that it uploads each of the images.
That way, your images will actually appear inside your pages. If you don't
have your images in the same folder
this won’t work. Put your images in before you start coding, that way
when you save and test
When you hit save, as long as the pictures are there, in your folder
your code will work, and you will see the picture.
Something else - if you look at my sample, I have put black borders
on my images, just because I like the look of them. I would
only do that when the image is not a link to a larger image
if you actually make the image a link,
this border will change color to a link color, and that is usually
unattractive, though you can override those settings as well.
You will notice that I have deliberately put borders here
and this one is aligned left, everything is floating so you will have
to clear the float, and I have put in blank lines
between each section of the images. Blank lines are usually done
with a paragraph, non breaking space, and a close paragraph tag
That will put in a blank line. So make sure you look at the sample, that is what I am looking for you to do
with your own images, your own text, everything should be your own custom code.
