Iconic graffiti artist Banksy has reworked one of his well-known pieces, Young Girl,
to support the With Syria campaign on the third anniversary of the start of the Syrian
crisis. The campaign is a coalition of 115 humanitarian and human rights groups from
24 countries, including Save the Children, Oxfam and Amnesty International. According
to the coalition their aim is to ensure this is the last anniversary of the Syrian crisis.
Syria's neighbours Lebanon, Turkey and Iraq have been inundated with refugees. As has
Jordan, which hosts around 600,000 Syrian refugees. 130,000 of them are at the Zaatari
Camp, where they marked the third anniversary with 100 young refugees releasing red balloons,
inspired by Banksy to carry messages of hope to Syrians. as well as lighting candles. The
With Syria event is being held in unison with vigils in more than 40 countries. Nelson's
Column in London, the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, the Sydney Opera House and the
Eiffel Tower in Paris will also be lit up in support of the campaign
