Hi, I?m Melina Piroso and welcome to Expert Village. Today I?m going to show you how to
make a cute little bag out of regular everyday fabrics. So now we're going to cut out the
straps. So we're going to turn our fabric over and we're going to work on the opposite
side because the other side is the side that's going to be showing. So, since we're going
to sow on this side, we can mark this side up because it's not going to be showing. Make
each piece about an inch long. Maybe about an inch and a half wide. So here's an inch
and a half. Here's an inch and a half. Here's an inch and a half. And here's an inch and
a half. And then we're going to measure across. And you want to make sure that your ruler
is straight along this edge. And that you're not cutting out in a slanted way. You're going
to try to keep your ruler as straight as possible. If you make it too thin, then when you put
stuff in the bag it's going to weigh down and it's going to cut off your circulation.
So you don't want to make it too thin. But you also don't want to make it too thick because
then you're going to have this big like Miss America sash going across your chess and it's....If
you're fashion conscious like I am it's going to ruin your outfit. So you don't want to
make it too big either. Unless you're making it for a man or you are a man. Men like the
big straps so it depends on the person who's going to be using bag. Big strap can be fun
if you're making a backpack or something that you're going to use to carry a lot of items
in. You're going to cut these all out and you want to really try to make sure that you
keep them all the same width because we're going to make one continuous strap out of
this.
