Hi, my name is Rebecca and I'm going to talk about how to choose a needle for hand sewing.
Personally, my preference for a needle for hand sewing is something that is small but
not so small that I can't handle it and I like to have the narrowest eye possible so
that the needle passing through the thread and the eye doesn't get stuck. Sometimes when
you're working with heavier weight fabrics, the needle that you would prefer to work with
isn't the best needle for the job so you want to look through and pick out a needle that
is thick enough so that you can actually push it through the fabric and check and make sure
that the eye doesn't get stuck. So there isn't any specific rule as to needle size or needle
weight or even the type of eye or how large the eye is when choosing a needle for hand
sewing, its the needle that can do the job that is between the hands that you have and
the fabric that you choose. So test it out a few times, but in general, the one with
the smaller eye is going to be even though a little harder to thread, much easier to
pass through the fabric repeatedly.
