00:01 COMM: It's the ultimate tale of a double life,
For most of the year Isaac Osei spends the day running his New York cab company. But
incredibly, back home in his native Ghana, Isaac is chief of the Akwamu people where
he dons a gold crown and is treated like a king.
00:18 ISAAC: When I come here it's a different thing,
nobody knows me here so I prefer to be Ghana though, because Ghana I get people to worship
me.
00:27 COMM: Like a real life version of the Hollywood
movie, Coming To America, Isaac moved USA in 1977 to pursue his dreams and find his
queen. He found love with fellow cab driver Elizabeth who he later married, and the couple
eventually opened up their own cab company, which now boasts a fleet of cars. But everything
changed in 2006, when Isaac's brother sadly passed away and he was appointed chief of
the Akwamu people in Ghana.
00:57 ISAAC: I never thought I would become a chief,
and I love what I do.
01:01 COMM: Today the couple travel back and forth
from America to Africa where Isacc resides in a palace and is tribal leader of five towns
in the country.
01:10 ELIZABETH: I feel very privileged to be married
to him.
01:13 COMM: He may be in the chief in Ghana but
when they are back in New York, there's no doubt who's boss.
01:19 ELIZABETH: Over here, I'm in control. My husband
is a big chief in Ghana, a reputable person, but when we come to America is a different
world.
