MARY: The Hot Lotto game has changed and one question has come up from players.
Exactly what does it mean when we say the withholding taxes will be paid
on the game's jackpot prize? Well keep watching and we'll tell you.
Hot Lotto's jackpot is now a cash-only prize with the withholding taxes paid.
That means that if the advertised jackpot is two million dollars and you
win it
you get a one-time lump-sum payment for the full
two million dollars. Now, the withholding taxes paid feature
only applies to the jackpot in the redesigned game. State and federal
withholding will still be deducted from the other price levels they apply to in
Hot Lotto
meaning that the net amount you'll receive will be reduced.
Players have said they'd like to see cash jackpots in our games with the
withholding taxes paid.
We're excited to be offering that very feature
in the relaunch of Hot Lotto. Another change is the numbers available
for you to choose from
in the new version of Hot Lotto. You choose five balls from a pool of 47
and another number called the Hot Ball, from a separable pool
of 19. The Hot Lotto jackpot starts at one million dollars cash with state and
federal withholding taxes paid
and it will grow until someone wins it. Plays still cost a dollar
and the Sizzler option that triples non-jackpot prizes,
still costs an extra one dollar per play. In addition to the change in the jackpot,
several other prize levels in Hot Lotto
also have increased. In particular, the prize for matching the first five
numbers but missing the Hot Ball,
has gone from $10,000 up to $30,000.
So far, Iowa Lottery players have won nine jackpots in the Hot Lotto game.
And we're looking forward to even more winners in the redesigned game.
And who knows, you could be the first Iowa winner to take home an all cash
jackpot
with the withholding taxes paid!
