X
Compound Inequalities a la Shmoop. Sierra is a very determined, motivated girl.
She is passionate about many things: ...saving the honeybees, expressing her love
for teenage boy bands, and most of all, solving inequalities.
So when her student body government posted an opening for a leadership position called
"Inequality Solver"... ...she jumped on the opportunity.
Instead of sending in a resume and filling out the application, she sat down and started
writing. Solve for x...where 2x + 3 has to be greater
than or equal to negative 3, AND less than or equal to 7.
To demonstrate her knack for solving complicated tasks...
...she decides to attack this inequality all at once.
She starts by subtracting 3 from each part of the equation to get 2x is greater than
or equal to negative 6... ...and is less than or equal to 4.
Then, to isolate x, she divides everything by 2 to get x is greater than or equal to
-3 and less than or equal to 2. With that solving inequality passion in action...
...Sierra is convinced that there's no way the student body government won't want her
as the new Inequality Solver. She's so cocky about it that she even pre-ordered
a basket of sculpted fruit to thank them.
