Is it working? I guess so
I'm Janella! And I'm Julius
and this is Enitan, and we live in Islington
We are going to take the challenge to see how much money we can save
we're also going to a video diary of us doing the challenge.
I'm going to sign up for the food waste challenge
on the Wise up to Waste website. It seems like all I have to do is
is type in my name and address. That seemed pretty easy!
We'll start the challenge tomorrow!
So, day three of week one - I'll now have a look and see if we have any food waste today
And we do - we've got quite a lot today actually
it's the end of dinner, so we've got some
Leftover fruits from the baby and we've got some leftover
potatoes and a bit of salad from us
and now I'm gonna weigh the whole lot
so much today! 620 grams..
that's it for today.
Right, so this is our food record for week one -
this is all of our food waste
and also the money we spent
I've got my food rescue kit - let's open it up and see what's inside!
recipe cards, cook book...
day three, week two! We had pasta today - I don't remember
any leftovers, but let's see what food waste we have left for the rest of the day!
didn't have any leftovers actually - clean plates!
guess it's because we measured the pasta
this week. So, we're going to weigh it all -
Wow is that all? That's all! And that's 57 grams
So we've done our food diary for week two
I just now need to put the figures into the website..
£38.50 spent this week - we have saved quite a bit of money!
So, we completed the two week food challenge, we learned a lot about reducing food waste, and
we've entered the prize draw online to win an organic veg box!
Fingers crossed! Definitely fingers crossed!
So Julius, how much money did we save?
Wait for it.. £24 in one week!
£24? I'm really surprised at that!
That's £1200 in a year! That's a lot of money!
I think that with all the tips that we've got we can definitely carry on
to reduce food waste and save money. Good luck with your food waste challenge!
Good luck! Bye!
