Welcome to the DevExpress Learn Now Series. A Set of quick tutorials to help you get started
using our controls. In this video I’ll show you how to visualize data contained in a pivot
grid using our Charts. So let’s get started… We already have a PivotGrid that is bound
and displaying data from an OLAP cube. First, I’ll expand the main form to add space for
the chart control. Then I’ll drag the Chart Control onto the form.
Our wizard appears. Here, I’ll leave the Bar Chart type selected by default and go
to the Data page. On this page, I’ll select the Auto-Created Series tab and, in there,
specify the PivotGridCotnrol as the data source for the chart series. You’ll see the new
Pivot Grid Data Source Tab appear. I can use it to customize various settings that affect
integration between the chart and pivot grid. For this video, I’ll leave the default settings.
Next, I’ll go to the Legend Page and uncheck the Visible Check box to hide the legend and
leave more space for the chart. And that’s it. I’ll close the wizard, extend the chart
control and run the application. Here, users can select cells within the PivotGrid,
and the chart control will visualize the data via the bar chart. Thanks for watching, let’s
see what develops.
