This beautiful historic home has been the home of one family, dating back to the 1860's.
That's the George Pardee family, and George Pardee was governor of California, in the
early 1900's. Later on after his death, two of his daughters, Helen and Madeline Pardee,
continued to live here, up into the 1980's, and the ladies never married. They lived here
all their lives, and when they made their will out, they decided they wanted this home
to be open for the public for tours, and museum activities, so a nonprofit organization is
operating it now, and it's a place to come and visit, and learn about early California
life, and the life and times of the Pardee family.
