The wheels are in motion on President Park Geun-hye's drive toward deregulation.
Starting as early as May, it will no longer be illegal for individuals to renovate commercial
trucks into food trucks. That opens the door for the operation of food
truck services in the nation. The move comes only five days after the president
pledged to cut the volume of regulations by 20 percent over the next two years.
For a closer look into these "Food trucks" that have almost become a symbol of the Park
administration's deregulation drive,... we're joined live in the studio by Dr. Kim Byoung-joo,
the head of KL&P Consulting and our regular commentator on this program.
"Food truck" has become a key deregulation issue.
First
of all, a food truck is
basically a mobile food vendor, right?
What are the key regulatory barriers to this business? Business registration? Vehicle modification?
But, we sense some doubts and even opposition to the deregulation drive on this issue?
And, what about public health concerns? Will we see the same kinds of health and safety rules
- that are
currently applied to
restaurants -
being
applied
to these food trucks?
