The gas terminal in Žavlje will devastate the Slovenian Sea.
This must not happen.
We have to tell the decision makers
that this terminal is fatal for the Slovenian Seaside.
The second biggest cinnabar deposit, the ore for mercury production,
lies in the Gulf of Trieste.
Any rummage around the sea bottom or pipelaying or concrete casting
or navigation of huge ships would result in sediment raise
and the release of mercury into the Gulf of Trieste aquatorium.
Due to such high deposits in the sediment, lives of around one million people
in the greater Gulf of Trieste hinterland are at stake.
Mercury accumulates in living organisms, therefore basically all food
from the Gulf of Trieste would be inedible
and would be the cause of three major impacts on human health:
mainly brain damage, damage to embryos, that is fetuses,
and, of course, to human genetic material.
We have been fighting against gas terminals for 7 years,
organized a few protests and sent more than ten petitions to Brussels,
which were not even considered.
Therefore, I will bring them the first fossil of the future.
If the gas terminal is built,
future generations will be discovering such fossils.
Our fossil, named fossil of the future,
will actually be discovered by future paleontologists,
who will dig into grounds and find a similar fossil
with a well preserved fossil fish and the fossil remains of a beverage can.
But one fossil will not be enough, therefore we appeal to you
to write a letter or an e-mail to the ambassadors of Italy and Croatia,
the Slovenian, Croatian and Italian governments and the European Commission
and request a withdrawal of their plans.
All addresses and e-mails can be found at: www.alpeadriagreen.wordpress.com.
All consequences due to contamination as well as cooling down of the water media
lead to one final thought:
The North Adriatic will literally turn into a puddle of death.
The terminal will terminate all life in the Gulf of Trieste.
