and with me is my co-host, Beryl. Say hello, Beryl. Beryl: Hi everyone. Melanie: And today,
we will be talking to Nick Haines from the Five Institute. He s also the creator of Five
Energy Dynamics, a powerful business development tool that enables entrepreneurs and small
entrepreneurial businesses to better understand their strengths and weaknesses and overcome
the challenges that keep them stuck or falling short of their promises. re going to ask Nick
to share with us what this process can do to stop us messing up our businesses or get
us back on course if we lose direction or drop the ball or need help over the bumpy
ride of change that is currently sweeping the planet technologically, spirituality,
and socially. And yet Five Dynamics does much more than just show you how to fix where you
ve gone wrong in order to insure that your business delivers. It is grounded in a deep
understanding of Chinese philosophy and Chinese medicine. And thus, it enables you to achieve
results over and beyond the average in your business, your relationships, and your impact
in contributing to the solving of the problems the world currently faces. So without further
ado, I d like to welcome Nick Haines to the show. Welcome, Nick. Nick: Thank you very
much for having me here. Melanie: We are looking forward to this conversation. Now Nick, just
to make sure that we re all coming from the same page, could you please explain what Five
Energy Dynamics is? What makes it unique above everything else out there? And perhaps touch
on sort of back of the envelope, touch on to Chinese medicine and the impact it has
on it? Nick: OK. Yes, I m happy to do that. Now, the basic theory is that we all have
energy dynamic, Five Energy Dynamic that s made up of these five energies. And originally,
they re identified by the Chinese and formed part of their medical system. So we have a
particular Five Energy Dynamic but our business also has one. And in an ideal world, what
you want to do is you want to match your five energy dynamic with the five energy dynamic
of your business. And if you do that, you end up with some sort of interlocking mechanism,
some level of harmony. You end up with a level of flow that you wouldn t normally get. So
Five Energy Dynamics is a way to understand yourself but also, understand your business
and allow you to match the two together. Melanie: So, could you tell us a little bit about what
so the Five Energy Dynamics that we individually have as well as the business will have. Nick:
Yes. We ve got five distinct energies and the energies of water, wood, fire, earth,
and metal. And they originally worked out by the Chinese who were in fact, an agriculture
society when they were doing this. And it was just over 5,000 years ago, some of the
early writings appeared with it. And if and this particular each energy gives us a particular
set of qualities, a particular set of traits of certain kind of level of personality. And
it gives us certain strengths but it also gives us certain challenges. And if you can
understand each of the energies and what strengths it will give you and the challenges that you
will also get from it then it will end up you ll end up playing to your strengths. I
think that s the key thing with understanding your energy dynamics is actually playing to
your strengths. Beryl: So in a business situation, if you found then that through working with
you, you discovered what your strengths were and I imagine that would be quite an aha moment
for many people to find out, That s why, for example, m useless with accounts because I
really hate detail and I really can t manage systems. What could what would your advice
be to somebody in that situation? OK. So you ve identified where the strengths and the
weaknesses are, how can they both drop those weaknesses? Nick: Well, I think the first
thing to mention is the thing that you said right at the start, is that people don t recognize
them. And inherently, they re very natural. These talents and these skills we have are
in totally in tuned with who we are and they re totally natural. So for example, someone
with a lot of metal energy will have a sense that something is missing. They will have
a s connected with autumn and that s about disconnection of things ending. So people
with a lot of metal energy will have a sense that something is missing. So what they ll
do is they ll wander through life looking for what s missing. Now, if they re working
in a business context, do you want to have someone working for you who can find that
everything that isn t there isn t working is missing? Absolutely. They re absolutely
invaluable with any business because inherently, that s what they do. So they might be looking
for missing numbers or they might be looking for missing systems or processes. They ll
just all the time say, Oh, have you thought about this? And you go, Oh no, I haven So
does that person with that metal energy think they re doing anything special? No, they don
t. They think they re just being normal. But normal to them is not normal for us. I don
t have a massive amount of energy so I don t always look for what s missing. I ve got
a lot of wood energy which is connected with spring and that s to do with in spring time,
you think that s to do with lots of things blossoming, lots of things happening. So I
love new things and I have a discomfort with chaos. So what I ll try and do is I ll try
and create order. So everything I look at, I ll put in ll create order for. So I look
at a business, a chaotic business and I think, Actually, I want to create some order there.
So the tool I use to do that is Five Energy Dynamics because it s a magical way for me
and for other people to understand things that are very complicated. So naturally, I
ll spend my time looking at everything and creating order and helping people understand
things. Beryl: So this is what sorry. Nick: Carry on. Beryl: I was going to say this is
why then so frequently people do not value about themselves what other people can. So
for example, I teach yoga and I actually think frankly, anybody could teach yoga. Yeah, you
ve got half a dozen classes. And I do not understand then why you would not be able
to stand up and teach yoga. You know enough poses to get through in Annahof but nobody
I know says, Yeah, I agree with you. Nobody. Nick: No. And that s just a wonderful example
of what I m talking about. You re just doing it very naturally, playing to your strengths
and you think that s normal. But I m really sorry. You aren t normal. You aren t normal.
Let s put it that way. In the areas connected with our energies, we aren t ordinary. We
re extraordinary. We do different things from other people. And if you can understand what
it is that you do that s extraordinary then and you can match that with your business
or your role within that business then you re really moving into some really quite special
territory. And sometimes people spend the whole of their life searching for either their
vehicle or their value. And the reality is, it s sitting right in front of them and it
s so obvious they don t actually see it because they think it s normal. Beryl: Exactly, exactly.
Melanie: So there s something I m trying to square in my mind here. I m beginning to get
an idea. If I were a one-man band and I felt that there was some disconnect in my business.
I m getting the idea that if I came to you, you would be able to identify via the five
dynamics perhaps where I m over extended or under I have a blind spot and perhaps recommend
how that could be resolved. How is that approach different from perhaps working with a small
business whether perhaps many partners or a few employees because there are multiple
energies now feeding into the business, how is the approach to that different or is it
the same? I m just trying to figure out Nick: No, no. It s a great question. On some level,
it s the same. What you want to do within a business, you want to have a blend of all
the energies. You want someone with earth earth energy is connected with late summer
and then late summer, it s a slow time when there are lazy hazy days when people can have
conversations and chat. The earth energy is associated with that. So people with a lot
of earth energy like to understand and then liked to be understood. So in a business,
you want to have someone with earth some earth energy there in order to provide your customer
service. If you don t have a lot of that, perhaps you shouldn t be building a business
that if you re a one-man band or one-woman band, you shouldn t be building a business
that s based solely on customer service because are you going to have a blind spot there?
Are you going to really struggle there? Absolutely. You might think so one of the things that
people you can help people with if they are a solo entrepreneur is you can look at the
nature of their business and say, does that match with your energy dynamic? And if it
s a customer- based business and they have absolutely no earth energy, then you might
want to question as to whether that s a good decision. So say, back to the metal energy,
they had a lot of metal energy which they ve got systems and process, there s efficiencies,
they might not naturally want to spend lots of time talking and looking after customers.
On the other hand, if someone has a lot of fire energy and the fire is associated with
summer and that s to do with passion and communication and enthusiasm and interacting with people.
They might want to build a business around people. So if it s a solo entrepreneur, it
s in a way more important to have the five energy dynamic of your business matching your
energies. If you re a large organization, you can bring people in to fill those individual
roles. So someone with a lot of water energy which is associated with winter and in winter,
what you have is you have a consequence of everything that s happened in the past and
a potential for everything to happen in the future. That s what s winter is about. So
this water energy which is associated with winter, those people are very good strategically.
They re very good at looking backwards and seeing what s happened and at the same time,
looking forward and working out their strategy. So you might have someone that is a solo entrepreneur
and they have a very strategic business and that will work for them. They might have to,
as the business grows, they might have to employ someone that looks after the earth
energy side of it. So at the Five Institute, we ve got customer service. The person who
looks after customer service, Sara, she has a lot of earth energy and a lot of fire energy.
She s great at communication and she s great at looking after people. And she compliments
us well. Beryl: So a brilliant piece of information this for team-building. Absolutely brilliant,
isn t it? Nick: Yes. It s absolutely the key. I mean there are two things. One, is it in
terms of yourself, you ve got to understand your five energy dynamic and make sure it
s matching your business. And then as your business grows, you ve got to bring in the
right people with the right energy and put them in the right places. Now, the slightly
complicated thing is that if you re the dominant force within the energy, within the business.
And the business will be moving through five distinct stages and five transition points.
Now the reality is, you will probably only suit one or two of those stages. So as the
business moves through the cycle, you re either going to move in or out of your skill set.
Beryl: What do you mean by moving through a cycle? Let me just stop you there. Just
do all businesses just are you saying because they re always evolving or is there a natural
cycle that a business goes through? What do you mean by that? Nick: Well, a business is
yeah, a business is moving though a cycle and when you understand the energies, it s
very easy to see. So the start shall I talk a little bit about the five? Beryl: Please
do. Melanie: Please, yes. Nick: So say you re starting with a new business, that s the
easiest one to understand. So you re starting with a new business and you re in this winter
phase. You re at time of this water phase, this time of winter, this time of reflection.
So at that particular stage, what you re doing is you re living with the consequences of
the past. All the money you ve got that you ve derived from the past or the relationships
you built up, all the experience you built, all the knowledge you built up, all the talent,
you re sitting there with that as potential. And you re having a reflection on that and
you re living with the consequence of it. And that affects what you can do. So a student
for example, when they finish all their A levels, they re sitting in a winter water
phase that the consequences of their previous study determines which university or which
job they can do. And so, a business a new business will stay start out with a particular
phase, this water phase. Then you start to move through this transition point. You start
to have a bit of a seed of an idea. You think, Actually, I could do this. And that stirring
within, this comes stirring within you. Then you move into this wood phase which is about
the blossoming of your ideas, when hundreds of ideas come, I could do this. I could do
this and this. And it s equivalent of spring. Everything just starts expanding chaotically.
And if you have a lot of wood energy, you ll love this phase because you will just have
a thousand and one ideas. Now the problem is, they might not all be good ideas. But
you can and that s sometimes the challenge for wood energy types because they can sometimes
be a bit fixed and a bit tense with their ideas. So they ll have all these ideas. So
the business will go through this wood phase of lots of ideas. Then you ve got to go through
this transition point where you ve got to narrow it down to one or two things that s
absolutely sustainable and you ve got to determine the message that you re going to give out
to people. So it s like an apple tree. All this blossom, hundreds of little apples but
does that tree keep all the apples? Absolutely not. It selects it down to the ones that it
knows that it can bring to fruition. So this transit point, this point between the wood
energy and the fire energy is about being very selective, working out your niche, working
out your product, and absolutely working out your message. Then you move into this fire
stage which is the fire energy that s associated with summer and fire is passion. So it s an
incredible time of lots of energy, lots of activity, things really get going. It s the
time when you should be consciously constructing your business in a certain way because if
you don t do it at that stage, at that particular stage, you will be punished later. In the
same ways, if you have chosen a particular product that doesn t have a need, you re not
going to sell it of if you ve not selected your niche well enough or if you ve not articulated
your message well enough, you will be punished later in the cycle. Now, I used the word punished
because that s what people feel that s what it feels like to people. So in this fire stage,
you re constructing your business and you have to have a level of consciousness about
what your business will be. You don t want to end up you don t want to say, Oh, I m going
to grow a field of wheat. And what you actually owned is a pair of scissors because what you
get to the harvest time and you re harvesting and you re very successful and you have this
enormous field of wheat and you walk in there with your pair of scissors, you re going to
have a horrendous time. And time and time again, I go into businesses and they say,
Oh, I hate it. I hate this. I m just struggling horrendously. And you look at what they ve
got and they ve got a field of wheat and a pair of scissors and they don t have any holidays
and they re having a pretty horrible time. So at that conscious construction s stage,
that fire stage, you ve got to know where you re actually going to end up. Then you
move through this next stage where you ve got your message, you ve got a nice product,
you ve got your niche, you ve got your message, you ve constructed your business so you know
that it will cope with the stress and the strain that you re going to put on it. And
this next stage, that s about the reality. And this is often when you start getting people
who will want to join in with you, joint venture partners because they have seen that you ve
got something of value so they want to get on board. You then the next thing, you move
into this earth stage. This stage is looking after your customers. And I ve said about
the earth energy, it s about understanding. So it s understanding your customers, it s
understanding your JV partners, it s understanding your team, it s understanding yourself as
you move into this phase. It s also the phase where you start to get some kind of rewards
start happening. Then you move through that phase and you then move into this transition
phase where you ve got start measuring and you ve got to start collecting information.
It s a collecting stage. So one of the things you re doing is you re collecting the rewards.
So this is kind of in a way the windfall stage. And you can go into a business when there
is this transit stage and you can see new cars in the car park, you can see new photocopiers,
you can see new carpets. They ve had literally the windfall. This is when things adjust.
They get starting to get the rewards. You then move into this metal stage which is equivalent
of autumn and the harvest stage. And in ancient China, they would always put people with a
lot of metal energy in-charge of the harvest because you have to be efficient, you have
to have no wastage, and you have to know what s valuable. So, as your business moves into
this metal stage, it s all about efficiency, systems, processes, harvesting things, getting
s really when stuff absolutely starts to pile into the business or when you get stuck in
this particular stage, if you haven t designed it well, you re actually not going to have
a really great time. Interestingly for entrepreneurs when they hit this metal stage, they re actually
can get quite depressed and that s because they ve actually made it. They ve got all
the things that they were going for and they now have a business that s a metal business.
It s going to [indiscernible] [0:19:32] and if they have a lot of wood energy, they are
thinking, Oh God, I got this idea. I would like to do this. This is outpouring. Or they
have a lot of fire energy. They ll say, Oh, do you remember the days when we used to figure
out all night, long planning and having conversations. It was so exciting. And now, I just come in
and go [indiscernible]. Melanie: But if it s the cycle, surely it reaches up to a higher
level. Nick: Yeah, absolutely. If you re very conscious about what you re doing, so you
get to the metal stage, you then move into the next stage of transition point where you
re actually measuring what taken all your measurements and holding what you ve actually
got. In this particular stage, sometimes people sell the business. That s a classic point
where people sell the business. They measure what it s made, what its worth, and they might
get rid of it or they might think, OK. This is what I ve actually got out of the business.
They then move back into the water stage of reflection. They think, OK. This is what happened
in the past. This is what I ve got. How would I do this differently? And then they start
moving back into the cycle. So, if you are really conscious as to what you re actually
doing, you just steadily move your business through cycle after cycle, stage after stage.
So with my business, I have two-year waiting list to see me. I m very busy. And one of
the things that I ve done in this next particular phase is I ve automated how you work out your
five energy dynamic. There s a profile test that tells you how to do it, a questionnaire
that tells you how to do it. You don t have to see me anymore. You can just go online.
It s for free. And you can find out what your five energy dynamic is and I think we re going
to put a link underneath this video, guys for that? Beryl: We are, we are. Melanie:
Absolutely. Nick: Yeah? So, you can do that for free. I ve automated that process. I ve
put something in, a system to do it for me. That will inherently create and it already
has done, it s created an awful lot of interest. Melanie: So, can I just don t lose your train
of thought, Nick. So is it cycling back into that water phase and reflecting that allowed
you to be aware of, You know what, I need to automate this part of it? Nick: Well, absolutely.
Well, the one thing I realized fairly early on was I needed a combined harvester because
and so, we spent the last three or four years building a combined you don t have to have
your own combined harvester by the way. You can actually have someone else s. So lots
of our technology, we re hiring databases in our customer service management systems
and we re hiring most of it but you have to be aware that that s what you re going to
need if that s the type of business you re building. Beryl: So, this is when you were
saying about the planning stage. If you haven t planned properly early on then it s going
to come back to bite you later on if you hadn t planned for that combined harvester now.
Nick: If I hadn t reflected and realized that actually where I was going that my reflection,
I had an accident about five years ago. I fell off a roof. I was in hospital. I couldn
t work for a year basically. And it gave me a fantastic time to reflect and think what
I d done. And the interesting thing was a few of my clients were really quite angry
with me. And they were angry with me because I had in a way, and I don t know why, I had
this two-year waiting list to see me. I was working incredibly hard. I had set up an I
co-founded an acupuncture college. We were training lots of people. But still, we weren
t actually getting this incredibly valuable information that actually determines what
sort of life you actually have, the quality of your life. I hadn t actually got that information
out to a wide audience. I had worked with thousands of people but it was limited by
what I was actually able to do. And when I had my accident, it was a not only did I hit
the concrete physically, I also hit it emotionally, spiritually as well and it really made me
reflect and think I need to stretch my level of comfort to take this out to a wider audience.
And that s why we formed the Five Institute and we constructed the things in a certain
way. It s less personalized in seeing me but actually, it can roll out to millions and
millions of people with the way that we ve actually constructed the system to do that.
And the clients were crossed with me because I hadn t done that previously. Melanie: So
unfortunately, you had to hit the wall to sort of wake up to this. And what I m thinking
about, I m thinking of a particular business at the moment where it s one that s been going
for a couple of generations and effectively, the grandchildren are coming in with fresh
new ideas. But the grandfather is still around and still tightly holding the reigns and this
is clearly a mindset problem here. How would you deal with that? Nick: OK. Melanie: I mean,
the grandfather cannot see the need for a combined harvester or even a change of crop.
Nick: OK. And you can kind of really understand that. I mean he s invested in the farm that
he s built and to let go of that is really tricky. I mean the first thing I do is I d
worked out what the five energy dynamic was of the person who originally started the company.
You can sometimes have a bit of a guess at that because you can look at it, the five
energy dynamic of the actual company itself. And if it s being successful, you know there
s been a match there. And you can look at the type of problems that they ve had and
the types of successes they ve had. So the first thing I do is I d worked out what their
five energy dynamic was and then you can see what it is that s important and valuable to
them and what it is within that that s stopping them moving forward. So are they say, they
have a lot of fire energy which is about love, passion, feeling, family, connectedness, if
they have a lot of fire energy, are they worried by creating a combined harvester that the
business will lose its heart? And the fire energy is about heart and sometimes he might
be as worried that it s going to lose its heart. So you ve got to create a way that
the business still has a heart that the originator wants but has the mechanism to deliver it.
So the Five Institute, we have a lot of heart. We have a lot of fire energy. We re very passionate.
So we try and design our system to contain and maintain that emotion. Or if say, the
founder had a lot of earth energy and he wants people to be looked after really well and
he doesn t think a combined harvester will do that. Is he going to be keen on the idea?
Absolutely not. If he has a lot of wood energy, he may be very people with a lot of wood energy
can get very stagnant and start grumpy before a seed actually cracks or an egg when it has
it s incredible tension and it has that tension to make something happen. So people with a
lot of wood energy can have this real tension. So if he has a lot of wood energy, you ve
got to find a way for him to be able to see where this will go and what it will blossom
into. If he has got a lot of water energy, water energy is associated with fear. Every
energy is associated with a particular emotion but the water energy is associated with fear.
So you need to identify where is his fear coming from. What s the fear about? And it
may be a fear that he well, there are three things with fear. One is that you will fear
that you will lose something. You won t have something anymore. The other one is you fear
that you will not like where you end up. And the third thing is you fear that you won t
be up to the job. and that s what happen. Just taking a little step to the side, you
know when we re in this water phase, the stage of reflection, that s when those fears start
to kick in. You have the fear actually, Will I be up to the job that I m taking on board?
Will I actually like where I end up? Will actually lose something within it? And sometimes
when people in this water reflection stage, they don t build the business or make the
level of the contribution that they could do because the emotion that s associated with
that phase comes in and inhibits them in an incredibly powerful way. But as soon as you
understand what it is that you re frightened about, you can engineer it. Beryl: I think
that makes a huge amount of sense because fear is paralyzing for many of us. Nick: Absolutely,
absolutely. Beryl: And it stops us moving forward and becoming the entrepreneur or whatever
it is that we really want to be. And that we can be clearly from listening to you, I
am very clear that all of us have gifts. We just don t recognize them and we let all the
other stuff hold us back. But to work with somebody like yourself, who actually would
sit down with people and say, Tell me what your fears are. I Imagine this one. Tell me
what your fears are. And then you will help them see that they re just an illusion. It
s just part of what they need to go through and they can t go through it. Nick: Absolutely.
If they re frightened or have the fear that they ll end up with something they don t like,
well, design it so you will like it. And if you take this five energy dynamic model of
designing your business then you re going to end up with business that you re going
to love because you ve designed to love it. You ve designed it in a way to love. re not
going to end up with this random thing of sunning in the field with a pair of scissors,
cutting wheat thinking, Well, how did I end up here? This is horrible. And because often
what happens and this is one of the reasons that people sabotage their success as it starts
to build is because on some level, they know they had created a living hell for themselves
and it s huge and that s because they haven t consciously designed the business or the
thing within a particular in a particular way. So you were talking about people being
kind of frozen or paralyzed with fear in this particular water stage. It s absolutely true.
Water has two sides to it. It can be flowing, powerful and driving things forward and doing
incredible things or it can be frozen still and locked or it can be locked in a stagnant
swamp. It s all water. It s just depends on the energy that s associated with it and what
you re actually doing with it. Beryl: I think this is why often, I can feel like I m trying
to herd cats frankly because I think that I get to a certain point with things and then
I m trying to keep controlled probably of things that I don t have a skill set for and
I m trying to literally herd cats. And then quickly get into overwhelm. This is making
a lot of sense to me. Nick: Yes. I mean that s a really common one. If the faster things
go, the more things happen, the more you have to have some framework or some structure to
hold it in. And one of the things that my clients say is just incredibly reassuring
that they ve got map. Well, first of all, they ve got the key to their vehicle. They
ve got their they know what their value is. Then they know what vehicle they re meant
to be driving. I mean so many people are sitting in the wrong vehicle fumbling around with
the keys trying to get it to work, trying to get it to start, and they re being towed
by other people. You just got to try harder. [Indiscernible] [0:31:47]. Melanie: I was
just going to ask you about that. Carry on. Nick: You re just sitting in the wrong car.
And then you came to the right car. The key fits and you re absolutely marching along.
But then you ve got to have a map. You ve got to have a compass otherwise you could
hit a brick wall. You could so the thing I love about Five Energy Dynamics, it gives
you the key, it gives you the vehicle, it gives you the compass, and then if you know
what your talents and you know what your flaws are like, it stops you driving off the road
because once you get up to speed, that s when your fundamental flaws can start kicking in.
Should I tell you a little bit about we talked about this in one of our programs that we
do, about the guy with a lot of metal energy who was fantastic. As we re saying, he s spotting
what s missing. And when I saw him one time I saw him actually, the first time I saw him,
I worked out he had a lot of metal energy. And I immediately said, OK. How is your relationship?
And he kind of looked a bit shocked and he said, Well, I m on my second marriage. I m
towards the end of it. My kids hate me. And yes, a completely utter mess. But the business
is going great. Thanks. And he said, Why did you ask what my relationship is about? I ve
come about my business. And I said, Well, your problem is that your I basically explained
that he had the ability to spot what was missing. But the reality is, he probably walked in
the front door at home and he walked in the front door, his kids came up, Daddy, daddy.
And his wife went, Hello, darling. And he would have immediately have said, You haven
t done this. This isn t right. This isn t being done. And does that create a warm and
a loving relationship with people? No. They absolutely but was he playing to his strength?
Absolutely. He was being totally authentic with who he was. It was just really inappropriate.
And the better he got at being brilliant at spotting what was missing, the quicker he
was going through marriages. So it s just really a matter of saying that this is your
value. This is what you do and this is why you re brilliant. You might just want to think
before you walk in the front door as to whether that s appropriate or not. And literally,
it took about two weeks for his marriage to his marriage and his relationship with his
kids get back on track again. Literally two weeks. Beryl: This is very powerful. Nick:
And every energy has a problem going on with it and the more you get into flow, the more
you think, the more in a way, the faster your vehicle is driving and the more you carry
along and you re working up the gears, the more chance you have to actually come off
the road. And the faster you re going, the more distraction actually happens. So I this
sounds really strange. People talk about getting into flow and I say yeah, absolutely fine
as long as you know how to keep the wheels on the road because if someone gets into flow
with lots of these programs out there and all they do is they go really fast and smack
into a wall. And I was told, Oh, you weren t in flow? Well, you were in flow. You just
didn t know how to keep your you didn t understand your five energy dynamic. You didn t understand
how to keep your wheels in the road, how to play to your strength and stop these things
that just pull up out of direction from scampering you. So sorry, I got carried away. Melanie:
No, no, no, it s fascinating. Beryl: It s wonderful. Nick: Thank you. Beryl: Keep your
fire. Nick: Yeah, it s a big thing that makes a difference to entrepreneurs if they get
this stuff. It s not complicated. Beryl: And I imagine that within a relationship and it
could be a business relationship, if knowing each other s energies, you could make many
more allowances where you might get frustrated with another person. But you might make many
more allowances knowing, Oh, that s just them being in their wood energy. And you might
even if you both know about it, you might be able to say, Hold on a sec, do you think
you re doing your wood stuff too much here? Do you think we need to rebalance it? In a
very non-offensive, non-confrontational way, it s just the elements. Nick: Absolutely,
absolutely. My staff that works for me, they know with my wood energy, I m fantastic at
creating order. I ve created this whole framework for people to understand themselves, their
business, their relationships, absolutely everything. So I m great at taking chaotic
things and creating order. But at the same time, within my organization of myself, it
s chaotic. So it s like, your greatest strength is your biggest challenge. I create order
and within my personal thing so my staff knows that things do not should not disappear into
my office because it will disappear. I mean they know what they know it. They said, ll
hold on to this until you re ready re ready to do something with it. s just my people
with their lot of earth energy that are brilliant at looking after other people. They actually
sometimes struggle to look after themselves appropriately. So I m brilliant at taking
things that are chaotic and creating complete order and that s because I hate chaos because
that s what I can sometimes generate. Beryl: This is absolutely fascinating, Nick. We could
listen to this all day. And we re thrilled because you re going to work with Melanie
and myself on our own business which will be fascinating to hear how that goes. So,
if people want to work with you and find out more about what you re doing, Nick, what kind
of programs are you offering people? Nick: Well, what we have first of all is we have
this free, this free questionnaire that allows you to take your five energy dynamic and to
know what it is, to know how these energies work. And then with that, we give you your
two most dominant energies and some other great information to start working with it.
If you like that information and you want to work further, then we have something called
the Fundamentals which teaches you how to start to leverage your value and understand
it. s got in a way, the important section. It s got it teaches you how to match your
energy dynamic with the energy dynamic of your business. That s why it s called the

got all things on self-mastery, designing all the business in a certain way. It s got
team-building stuff. It s got s just got some really, really kind of cool stuff. But the
first thing people want to do is they want to take their five energy dynamic. And there

the big thing that s important for me, is and I know people say, You shouldn t say all

costs. Beryl: And it s a business investment. That s the way people have got to get their
mind around these things, isn t it? They are investing in like, a photocopier or carpets
but this will do dramatically more for their business. Nick: Oh yeah, absolutely, absolutely.
I had one of my clients who I was working with last week and they said, I have paid
thousands and thousands and thousands of pounds to try and get my business back on track.
And I ve had half an hour and I now understand what s wrong. And it s because s once you
understand it, like I said, it s not complicated. And just going back, the reason we re making
it affordable is because we have a combined harvester. We ve got a system that allows
m still really expensive to work with. But if you want to have this system and understand
it and work through it, we ve got it all automated. It s the fantastic amounts of material in
that and you will love it. Beryl: We love it already. Melanie: Yeah. Beryl: Just listening,
we love it. Melanie: I m speechless. Beryl: So, if there were one message right now, I
guess it s going to be come and work with me. But if there were one message to somebody
say because listening to you, this could fit for the person who s business is going down
the pan, for the person who s thinking they d like to do a startup but they re not quite
sure about lots of things, there could lots of questions around that or maybe someone
who s bored with their business who wants to inject a bit of life into it so you need
to inject a bit of life into them, what is the Melanie: And let me add a bit. And I should
imagine, even those who feel their business is doing all right because I m guessing the
question you re going to ask, Beryl. Beryl: No. Nick: I think, Mel, that s absolutely
true. You actually get people incredibly successful and have a life that we have something called
complete wealth which is like a totality of your wealth, not just the money that you have.
And some people are very wealthy but they don t have complete wealth. And one of the
things, and this is my kind of big mission is that I want people to have that, to have
this complete wealth so that actually, they can contribute, they can make a difference,
they can have relationships, they can have money is great. It oils the things but actually,
it s not the completeness of everything. And my mission is to get as many entrepreneurs
as possible and many business or people working within businesses to have this complete wealth
within their life. Melanie: And so the complete wealth, this is a different is this a different
process? Nick: No. It s the end result of your journey. Melanie: OK, OK. Nick: It s
the end result of your journey. You ve got to have time, energy, and money. You ve got
to have relationships. You ve got to have health. You ve got to have a good self-identity.
You ve got to have a sense of significance in life like you re making a difference. You
ve got to have all of those things. Beryl: Yeah. Nick: To have a complete life. If you
just have money without any relationships, then it doesn t kind of work. Beryl: Yeah.
I have recently heard Stephen Fry say, the problem he has with goals is you set all these
goals and then you get there, you ve achieved all that and then you look around and you
think, well now, what? There s not meaning and purpose. And I think this is what you
re talking about, isn t it? Making sure that people are following their passion and at
the end of all of this, of course, it s about enjoying the journey but you don t want to
end up thinking, where is my real wealth? We re not talking money. But where is that
feeling inside yeah. Where is that? Nick: Yeah. And if you re designing with that in
mind and right at the beginning, when you take your questionnaire, the first video you
get, we talk about that. We say, OK. This is what this is where we want to go. And if
we design this in a way that doesn t get you there, then we failed you. Because just getting
more money without the other stuff is actually like Stephen Fry says. People I have business
successful businessmen and women in my office crying because they blew the other stuff.
And one of the things and so, our aim and we talk about this really upfront, is to get
this complete wealth. That s what we want to happen to people. Money is part of that
but the other stuff has to fit as well. So that s where we re at. And contribution is
part of that, significance, making a difference, having something meaningful. Beryl: Well,
