I'm Shelby Cullinan with today's health news. The brain of deceased professional wrestler,
Chyna, will be donated to research the effect of concussions, the New York Daily News (NYDN)
reports. Chyna, which was the stage name of Joan Marie Laurer, was found dead in her apartment
in Redondo Beach, California, on April 20. The cause of death is still under investigation,
which could take weeks, according to the NYDN. Laurer's brain will be donated to the lab
located in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of California,
Davis, which specializes in research on Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE), a degenerative
disease that is found in those who have experienced repeated concussions. According to Chyna's
managers, while Laurer did not report any concussions, she had a history of injuries
and domestic troubles, including alleged abuse by wrestler Triple H. While her manager does
not believe Chyna's cause of death was suicide, he said he looks forward to learning more
about Laurer's brain, as do fans, according to the NYDN. For dailyRx, I'm Shelby Cullinan.
