What is your opinion of the HIIT cardio weight loss results we heard about?
Getting involved in any cardio workout routine is going to cause weight loss unless you use
it as an excuse to stuff your face every night.
The High Intensity Interval Training is supposed to be the best way to burn fat.
Any cardio routine that is high intensity burns a lot of calories. As long as you consume
less than you burn, you'll lose fat.
I heard that HIIT is better than other cardio routines, whether you're doing calisthenics,
joining Zumba classes or going for a run.
It is a workout system based on hard but short workout sessions followed by a slower cool
down.
I heard it improves your glucose metabolism, enhancing fat burn.
It improves your body's ability to burn up the sugar in your blood. Once that's gone,
you'll start metabolizing fat.
It's also supposed to improve your athletic capacity.
Any sustained cardio work does that.
Why is HIIT so popular?
High intensity interval training is necessary for athletes like sprinters who need to work
up the ability to workout hard and fast for short periods of time. Other people like it
because it is so versatile.
I've seen a lot of different styles.
In theory, any hard workout for a minute followed by twenty seconds of a slower activity is
an HIIT routine if you do it over and over again.
That's the jogging style of a lot of people. Try to run, then walk, try to run, then walk.
For it to be a HIIT routine, they'd have to run mostly, then walk, run, and take a short
walk. You do have to be careful though to have proper rest periods, because slow periods
aren't good enough for full recovery.
And passed out on the side of the road really doesn't count as a rest period.
