I think my favorite experience or memory at UC Merced would have had to been when I actually
first came to Merced I went to the Chi Alpha Christian Group, and one of the coolest things,
it was very welcoming, I had been out to a lot of different groups on campus, or when
I grew up going to church, I had never experienced anything like that until I came to Chi Alpha,
and for me it was really a changing moment in my life, and from then on I've really grown
in my faith and my relationship with God, and I don't say that to be religious or to
convert anyone, but really I owe that to UC Merced if I had never came to UC Merced, I
would have never had that experience. My plans after I graduating is that I'm going over
to UC Davis which is really exciting, I'm going to pursue my PhD. in their Biology Molecular
Cell and Developmental Biology Program, long name. My hopes are to get my PhD. and then
do cancer research so I'd like to get into that field so I'm excited about that. I think
student should choose UC Merced because its truly a unique experience. A lot of people
think we're at a disadvantage because we're new and we're kind of smaller, a lot of people
don't even know where Merced is, but really it and of itself thats the best advantage.
you have professors that actually genuinely care, about your grades and about your life,
the staff and just the family atmosphere on this campus is amazing. And students truly
get a unique experience that you could find at no other university. And we're constantly
growing, we're only been around for 8 years and to see what UC Merced has become in that
time is amazing. And so for me, although UC Merced might be small, in 20 or 30 years when
it's the most known school in the United States, you're going to be able to say that I went
to UC Merced, so that's why I think students should choose UC Merced.
