We are delighted to conclude Steppenwolf's 2013/14 season
with The Qualms by Pulitzer Prize-winning
Tony Award-winning playwright Bruce Norris.

The play is set in a beachside complex, where a group of friends gather regularly for food, drinks and sex
and we witness the arrival of a new couple
whose first evening with them goes terribly wrong.
It is a sharp-witted, insightful comedy
that explores questions about monogamy,
the power of sex and the eternal questions of status and power.
We are thrilled to present this world premiere
of Bruce Norris's The Qualms,
which is the seventh of Bruce's plays that we've produced here at Steppenwolf.
I'm delighted that this marks the return of Pam MacKinnon
who was most recently with us directing our production of
Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf
which went on to win the Tony for Best Revival on Broadway
and won Pam a Tony Award for Best Director.
It's always great for Steppenwolf to be able to produce one of Bruce's plays.
He is one of our guys and I think that the questions that Bruce asks,
and they're always done with a high level of intelligence
and wit and daring,
are very serious ones about how we live now.
I think you will discover that there is a heart and a warmth in this play
that makes the humor
and the challenge of the play even more delightful.
We are happy to conclude this season with The Qualms
by Bruce Norris.
