Hey guys! Today, I'm going to introduce the party game
"One Night Werewolf"
which is popular these days in Japan.
This game is based on the party game
"Are you a werewolf?"
(Werewolf game)
In "Werewolf game",
Players are divided into two teams, and fight by guessing, lying,
and persuading each other.
This is a thrilling game but it has two weak points.
It requires at least 7 players and over 1 hour per a game.
People without friends,
like me,
can't even play.
"One Night Werewolf" keeps that excitement,
but requires less players and time.
It can be played
with 3 to 6 players and in 10 minutes.
Now it looks like I can play!
Now, let's get started with the explanation.
This game uses only 8 cards.
4 roles are written on them.
4 citizens,
1 seer,
1 thief,
and 2 werewolves.
Werewolves belong to Werewolves team.
All other roles belong to Citizens team.
Now, let's see how we play with 4 people.
We'll use 2 more cards than we have players,
so 6.
We'll only remove citizen cards.
After shuffling,
each player takes one card.
Keep the remaining cards face down.
Look at your card and turn it over.
At this time,
don't show your card to other players.
The game begins with the night phase.
All players should close their eyes.
In night phase,
players other than citizens can open their eyes and use their abilities during
their turn.
The limit of each turn is 10 seconds.
Each player should count to 10 in their head.
If all players say "10!"
the turn is over.
First turn is the Seer.
He can see ONE player's card or
TWO cards which are not owned.
Second turn is the Werewolves.
They can see who the other werewolf is.
In this case
1 more werewolf is here.
Third turn is the Thief.
He can exchange his card with another player's card,
if he wishes.
Be careful that the
other player doesn't see you exchange cards.
Now the night phase is over and the day phase starts.
All players open their eyes.
You have 5 minutes to decide who the werewolves are!
Werewolves mislead the discussion in order to hide their identity.
Go ahead.
After the day phase,
all players vote on who should be executed.
Players with most votes is executed.
If the executed player is werewolf,
citizen's team wins.
But if the player belongs to citizen's team,
werewolves' team wins.
What about the case that more than 1 players are executed?
In this case,
if at least 1 werewolf is executed,
citizens' team
wins.
If no werewolves are executed,
werewolves' team wins.
In the case that all players get one vote,
nobody is executed exceptionally.
If all players belong to citizens' team,
all of them win.
But,
If at least 1 player is werewolf,
werewolves' team wins.
If all players belong to citizens' team
players have no choice than avoid the execution to win.
If at least 1 player is executed,
all players lose.
Now for the thief.
If the thief exchanged his card with a werewolf,
their fates are exchanged too.
Offcourse,
the werewolf cannot know if his card was exchanged or not.
Finally,
let's see the game.
