Well, I always love this question, and it relates to one of my favorite quotes. It says,
'We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We're spiritual beings having
a human experience.' And what that really means to me is that our nature is spiritual,
who we are. We are spiritual beings having this human experience, and the human experience
really asks us to forget. It asks us to disconnect from those intangibles, the thoughts, and
the feelings, and the knowing. And really focuses on our five senses, what we can see,
what we can hear. Those are the things that we perceive as real.
When it comes to being more spiritual, there are definitely things that you can do that
will get you in touch with your true nature. Breathing is one, meditation is another, journaling
is another. Me personally, I feel most connected when I am in nature, so for me the beach is
my sanctuary. That's where I go to connect with my highest self, and that's where I go
to recharge my energy.
Practices in spirituality, something else that I like to do is, for me spirituality
is about interconnectedness. It's about understanding the ripple effect. That the choices I make
go beyond me, and there's a ripple. Spirituality to me is about the legacy that we're looking
to create. What impact do we like to have on the world?
But when it comes to being more spiritual, it's about living your values. There's tons
and tons of self-help books. There's tons and tons of new age books. Knowing it is not
enough, you have to live it. And living your spirituality really means remembering the
truth of who you are.
