So here five things to avoid when transferring a car title or receiving a
car title
this is Dave at cartitles.com first and foremost
crucial thing to remember is don't leave anything blank on that title
if it’s mileage names date anything has a blank make sure and fill that blank in
when you're transferring the title so that the buyer and seller both
understand what those items are and there are no errors made later worst thing you can do is
have an error
that needs to be corrected because now that title may be void number two along the same lines
is filling in the wrong place
make sure that when you're signing the title as a seller
you sign in the seller's block if you sign in other place like for lien holder
or in the wrong blank that title may become void then you have to get another one
it may become a very difficult process
keep copies of your title after it’s filled in after all the information is placed on
the title
mileage names and dates make a photocopy keep one for yourself
make maybe an extra one for the buyer or if you’re the buyer make one for the seller
so you understand and know what the information was filled out
on that title at the time it was transferred we've seen situations where
on mileage the mileage was changed so it had lower mileage later and then
the buyer seller have a discrepancy about what they intended at the time a
transfer
make sure you also get a bill of sale along with transferring that title
so you have a documentation of that there was money paid how much it was
and what the terms and conditions of that sale was last but not least very
important
take a photo of the VIN plate
of that vehicle the VIN number plate and match it up with the title making sure
that the titles being transferred matches the
identification number on that vehicle we've come across a lot of cases in title
recovery
where person transferred the title signed it over found out was for different car
then actually what they received so take a photo of that VIN plate
and match it up with the title to make sure it's the right title for that car
